Does anyone know where to collect packages from online purchases if they are stuck at Canada Post? (I bought something awhile back and the vendor confirmed that they sent it to my house address but it hasn't arrived after a month, so wondering if it's worth it to go to the Post Office to try and pick it up).

If it is too big for the mailbox, then a notice should have been left usually in the mailbox indicating that the item is available to be picked up at your local/nearest Canada Post. Perhaps the notice was misplaced and you never knew you had to pick it up, so yeah go ahead and check! And @Green Building is absolutely right; a tracking number will tell you current location/whereabouts of your package if there is one.

@BigCountry18 that would really depend on the Canada Post agent working at the time. Sometimes they require that you provide an ID that has the same address of the shipping address despite having the same name whereas others would just let you receive the package if it's addressed to you but under a different name.
I've had several times where different Canada Post agents would deny me accepting a package despite it clearly being my order and under my name and I even showed them the order confirmation and the pick up slip and everything but they didn't allow me to pick it up from the office causing huge problems. Other times, other agents would just let me pick it up because my name matched so it really depends.
