  1. I would not offer that... huge over payment for a first, and what if a first is a bust for some reason? Has happened before but then what do we have? The loss of a good up and coming goalie, our 10th pick, and a possible 20 goal scorer. That would not be good, too much risk imo
  2. Well like you pointed out he has value and that's his size and he can play with a smaller offensive Dman and we don't have to worry about it. When we do make the playoff's and then size matters, his value will show even more and he's not a liability on the ice so he's a step forward in just that one aspect alone which unless you count LS if he returns, we are still lacking in grit even with bulldog and our new burrows, past that we don't have much so we're fortunate to get that at D position and hopefully another one but on top pairing but that's pricey..
  3. Was out all day and finally read that about 15 mins ago and frack that made my day!!!! Sad this comes just before the entry draft and we have to protect him but way worth it!
  4. However we only get one full season in before the draft happens because of overlapping years... yeah an off season in between but we're also trying to get the players we have evaluated and where to put them but a lot if that falls on individual development and then what to do... i can picture mr b doing a lot of thought juggling and i don't envy him trying to work it all out... but with the prospects we have and the picks if jb doesn't trade will make a lot of different scenarios but by the time the ED happens i think we'll have enough depth where it won't hurt us that much as long as jb isn't fired and replaced by someone who will trade the farm and future picks to try and win it all now.. Which will probably happen with our luck.... Shrugs, meh..
  5. Fun on the cdc?lmao, Surely you jest!
  6. Don't be projecting your problems onto others when they don't agree with you unless your just trolling lol
  7. Opposed to watching the boards that say sign 10 elites so we can win the cup and forgetting cap future of signing brock and then petey plus raises for others is more interest ing to think about? "Worry" about who we're going to lose? Not so much.. a bit interested to see what happens after if benning built enough depth that it won't hurt as bad as it could have? Time wise i mean, getting tired of waiting for the build to be over and start to see a team with an identity for a change but it's up to which way it goes as having more depth for the near future is a challenge that if jb pulls off then we're golden but if not.... back to the same old story of being soft with not depth... yeehaw!
  8. Since when? There's only one season to do moves and add new players and try and plan for development and then see where players are and how and if they fit at all and if you don't think that's in the back of bennings mind as he tries to build positional depth and not be the last one standing when the music stops especially when his job is ultimately on the line, i'd be definitely be looking ahead to be in a position where it does the least amount of damage to work that has been already been done especially in a crazed hockey town where everything you do is under the microscope and add our team being in the final stages of rebuilding around a new core then it's never too early to think it over the year before when your trying to stock up depth for a cup run... especially when it's filling in the top 2 lines, instead of the bottom which we have tons of.
  9. Yeah i suppose i should ignore the benning haters, your right and it's hardly confined to the CDC right? Same thing by some vancouver media whom a lot here echo without a second thought because at first glance sounds good but then a little free thinking unravels it but it's rather annoying and i guess some times it's a lil much and i vent at it lol shrugs...
  10. I think it would better to trade markstrom for a pick after signing him again if his next season is good and Demko is ready to take over by trade deadline and sub in Kielly and see how he fares as a back up and let MD simmer for another year... just a thought, I read Kielly is up for goalie of the year and best player so why not give him a sho to see how he does?
  11. At the end of the day i think some of us should remember this if we think being a GM is as easy at it looks from the outside.. so even though he's made mistakes at least benning has us in the right direction that we even get to talk about this, having enough good players to protect but stocking the farm too since we're keeping picks for a change instead of yester years "trade picks" for a win now in exchange for the future that's been going on too much for years in the history of this franchise. At least it's fun thinking we might actually have a shot at the big dance if things go right without selling the farm and it keep going and producing depth support for the core.
  12. Another expansion looms right in the middle of our rebuild and it affects trades and signings that have a ripple affect as every team will suffer losing someone but for those reading not familiar with expansion it goes like so.. Rules. The initial proposal of therules for thedraft were decided upon by the NHL in March 2016. They allowed each team to either protect seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender or, one goaltender and eight skaters regardless of position. so thoughts on who to protect and what players you want to see traded for this year to improve the team but who does that leave open to possibly losing? I love the discussions/speculations on trades but where it comes into play for us especially is if we get that top six forward then we have a dilemma of whose left over after our top guys are protected but at the end of the day i think we stand to lose a Dman if benning protects our top 2 lines of forwards if he can pull off a trade and keep our current picks and use them for D to cover a loss. so who do you think we'll lose and how do you trade this year knowing your going to lose someone if your GMJB? p.s. i think the rules are b.s. i'd change it to if a team didn't make the playoff's the previous year they'd be exempt.
  13. Why would we do that for? MD hasn't shown anything at the nhl level where Demko has when he's played. No it wasn't MD's fault he got blown out for 7 goals and hardly saying he could become a bust but there is no guarantee he will work out either...
  14. It's got nothing to do with what you said, boston had a well balanced team that had toughness and fire power and depth. Do we have that? Certainly not... however if Jimbo gets this team there we might actually get somewhere for a change.
  15. Normally i'd agree but if it's the BPA at positional team need which is both D and forward for us so it works either way especially since we have both our picks for 1-2 round and it all depends contracts signed and cap issues so that plays into it if we want a nhl ready player there's another thing plus development on current prospects. So a lot plays into it and that's why Mr. B gets a paycheck to make the decision and his _ss on the line and he's made more good than bad considering the train wreck of a "seasonal" team without much of a farm as we traded away more of our picks and a core that was tired and contractually locked in but finally we're almost out of the woods (2-3) years from contender so that's miles away from getting an early bounce even when we did make the post season. I just hope benning stays with safe bets so the "moving forward" keeps going... no f ups now would be nice, for a change, in the entire history of this franchise with no cup there's always been something so it's been painful watching for 40 years but if benning can pull off a team like the boston team minus the rat.. lol Hope he pulls it off here and we'd be golden but finding a Chara might be a tad difficult but he might try make something out of Tryamkin yet...
  16. Toss up between McSorely (for what he did to Brash. Steve More (for what he did to Nazzy) The Rat (for what he did "twins"
  17. Well like our team previously, you don't get far in the playoffs with a smaller soft team...
  18. Yeah well points during the regular season mean zero when the playoffs hit and so do the playoffs when your 100 point players get beat on with no response and then disappear. Sick of a great seasonal team that never made it past the first/second round save 2011... what has changed? I'd rather the team rebuild than go through that all the time and glad it happened even though rebuilds aren't fun but it beats the F out of hurting your foot kicking a dead horse over and over hoping it will get up and win a race...
  19. Oh i thought it was saying. "Look at me hesitating to give the goalie a better chance rather than embarrassing the living ___ out of him as he waves at it" But it happened anyway, you guys might as well give up. mlm...
  20. Dude, another 20 pounds of muscle would not slow down petey.. More like help him win more puck battles and give him better skating speed.. and i'm not saying him being 220 pounds +... thought that was obvious
  21. Ok zero is a bit of a stretch... that's pushing it!
  22. Oh the death stare on the right... "I vill keel you with my alien, out of this world, super powers" so kiss my (_i_) Matheson..
  23. Seriously? Strength helps especially for endurance and in the nhl, the more the better. Long season followed by gruelling playoffs, so yeah, strength training and gaining some weight would not hurt petey a bit. You could tell it was wearing him down but i have faith in his drive to get better no matter what it takes.
