  1. I'm in the same boat since day 1 but mine is the Habs, pretty sure danny gallavan? The mtl commentator started it off but it still lives to the day followed by the Flamers and Laff's... Before 94 after the Nux, the Islanders were my 2nd fave team, fave player from them was Butch Goring with the ugliest helmet ever but that guy worked his ass off and Garland (smaller version) reminds of him.
  2. More proof that "winning it all NOW" never worked, and never will.. building does but selling the farm and depth throws a wrench into it every time. Will it ever change? Depending on if fans are ignored and the team gets built for a change but until that happens... No cup, ever!
  3. That's not the part I'm referring to.. he does that part "ok", it's not rocket science, however when he tries to nitpick, he gets it all wrong, then it's all bush league after that. Sorry maybe I've been spoiled with watching and growing up with a lot better than him to know the difference but to old school guys like myself, it's glaring! And f'n painful..
  4. You have some pretty low standards there sir, and if you think he gets it right 97% then you have never actually played hockey enough to know that's hardly correct. He gets offsides and icing pretty good if that's what your referring to, however his so called opinion of players and the rest of the game is 97% alright but going the other way.. it's painful..
  5. Well if we win, you have to wonder what kind of excuse their coach will use this time? IF our whole team plays hard as they can we can take them BUT we have to stop taking turns showing up, our odd's of winning drop big-time depending how hard we play and how many guys play hard is more like it. And omg our face-off's need to get better, we have to win the crucial ones and we lose a lot of those that end up shooting ourselves in the foot like bad penalties too... Still lots to improve on but not bad, few holes to fill but getting closer.
  6. Hopefully not the usual suspects... I miss the old hockey and the announcers, I remember the buzz of the canadiens games against flyers.. man and the commentator's rocked it hard! Even if on the radio it almost felt as if you were there they called it so well. Ken Hodge comes to mind actually..
  7. First, I'll comment on your nick, I wish our team actually was the big bad Canucks or something to that affect. Soft as butter for too many years with the odd exception. 2nd, your being awfully generous with the JG comments, senile is a nice way of describing him. I'll just leave it as the guys a f'n moron to the 10th degree. Nice guy BUT in ways, wow, I just turn music on instead of listening to the bush league try and call a game. Blows me away that he thinks he's the second coming of Howie meeker or something, Howie could critique because he actually knew a what he was talking about at least half the time and ran a hockey school that proved it. Garrett? Not so much but he acts like it..
  8. True of course BUT we have nor the size or depth to get anywhere in the post season. The hype and excitement would be fun while it lasted but it wouldn't last long sadly
  9. I don't know, Garret is awful, if it's not fans here rioting making all us Vancouver fans look like complete idiots, then Vancouver media who is absolutely bush league at best proves we have the worst fans, media, and commentator's arguably in the whole league. Don't get me wrong, there are some good fans out there but the rest of it, media and commentator's are useless as our government and city hall.. Meh, it's our lot in life as a Canucks fan but whatever.
  10. Well a lot of hiring Green in the first place was that a lot of fans were screaming for the hire since he was rumoured to have reasonable success with the young players in his stead, however true or not, a lot of fans jumped on the TG bandwagon especially since TG got the team to over perform in the bubble that led to the re-hire, save that, I doubt he'd have stayed and we'd have had someone new. management, whoever they are in the future and JR and co. now need to ignore the fans and build, not try to buy past our means and trade away picks, it's never getting us anywhere and never will.
  11. Seriously? Yes! JB got this roster close but never got a 2nd chance to finish it but being Vancouver, not many GM's could, but if JR can ignore what the "win it all now!" Idiot fans demand and actually not only bring in 3-4 more players then we stand a chance but build depth at the same time. Can he pull it off? Doubt it, no GM here has ever gotten us a really good roster with depth to back it up or we'd probably had a cup or 2 by now... If we keep selling the farm out as usual, we'll still be f'd. End of story... Nothing has changed.
  12. My take away from this game even past the 2 points is Podz, starting to catch fire and in the post game vids about his goal was that he "wires" one, SCREW that! His shot was the cross between a laser beam and a cannon, doubt there's too many goalies in the entire NHL that stop that shot! Anyway hope he keeps it up and his confidence with the puck along with it! Yeah he still makes some rookie mistakes but seems he's settling in.
  13. Thanks for making me feel old.. wait.. I guess I'am, I actually remember that!
  14. Well I should have added IF it was "possible" as a viable choice? Some might argue Mikey plays a great game when he's on but it's sporadic, but hasn't had much of a taste yet of the big show to know but Martin seemed a lot more confident...
  15. Simple enough question but the answer? Not so much, Halak has played great in the past BUT at his age do you write him off? Try to get your money's worth OR give Martin another shot to see if he's legit over more than a tiny sample size? Martin seems to be ahead of Mikey D but haven't watched any games in Abby to know for sure BUT at any rate, I think I'd give Martin a shot but that's just me.
  16. And nevermind all the other teams looking for the same things and in better markets than Canadian.. NY LA etc, this isn't new.. at least he started a farm which we never had before, it was always sell the farm, win it all now, no building allowed, yeah that f'n worked didn't it? At least JB showed some balls and tried, but idiot fans want and demand same ole chit year after year after year... Morons, no wonder we'll never have a cup if it continues..
  17. Yeah doesn't have a bad outlet pass but his D reads need to be a bit better and faster but that will come with experience, just wish he was 4 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier. At least would have to be paired with someone that size-ish..
  18. And we cannot rely on that, we need to get a lot better on D as in overall too. Our positioning could be soooo much better and it gets exposed against elite teams on their game so if it can come from the new roster we have or we need changes, something has to give.
  19. Ooops my bad, it was Bruce, I went to look if Aquaman had posted something around the same time but anyway NJ can breathe a bit easier if Demko is getting a day off but if Halak plays like he's capable of then we might be ok...
  20. Uh yes he did, why would I make that up? I saw the tweet, do you want me to find it again and paste it here?
  21. Yeah I know... Much like Bo, he can be ok or beast mode but never consistent for any length of time.
  22. Yeah he does say hi but still not ready for the big show quite yet, is he close? Omg yeah! Just needs a bit more seasoning and can see him help out for sure.
