  1. Well let's just hope not making the playoffs gets us upgrades wherever possible because with upgrades, that, for once, might make us a way better than the average team and our depth improves, not making the playoffs will be a thing of the past but that's all up to the new management team... Who knows..
  2. Try the last... Wait, I was going to try and guess at the years of Canucks fans, the wannabe's, I mean but I can't think of a year since 74 that it's changed but it's still the same today and it's not going to change, finally succumbed to that fact although one hopes... Meh best not to give a shi_! Lol!
  3. 5-3 Miller, Garland and Podz because of the drive factor they were born with.. kinda obvious though
  4. Yeah tell me about it.. I'm miffed he got the chance though, Podz might have won that for us given half a chance AND give him a massive confidence boost had he scored and won it for us which was the part that pissed me off the most! That's something Green would have done ffs!
  5. Omg Bruce, Petan over Podz? Wtf? I'd have put Podz before Garland even the way he's playing..
  6. Ummm before Boes hurt his wrist, and then his back, he knew he had to work on his D game but seems like he's leery about the rough spots but before his injuries he looked like money in the bank which was a league wide consensus so JB wasn't wrong especially our need for scoring at the time which was so bad that we were even looking for secondary scoring from the back end and then you know it's bad so if you thought it was a bad move at the time there would be a lot of people disagreeing with you especially with the shooting percentage he was carrying which would even out eventually as for anyone but a healthy Boeser would have been a lot better for us but if we can trade him to a team that needs what he brings and get a Dman in return, which would solve another problem for us but if he comes back and lights it up and we stand a good chance of getting a good dollar for him trade-wise. One can hope..
  7. Well going over some cap math but there's a big question actually, can Martin be consistent? Will Mikey D have anything to say about that? Pretty hard to say at this point, and we have another Podz in the mix as in Klim who is another question mark but has the potential to be simply a meaner version of Podz and maybe more skill but that's open for debate but both are potential 2nd line players but Klim would add more bite, speed, and scoring to 3rd line which we could certainly use if we're to go anywhere but that's most teams. Sadly Klim isn't a year older and experienced so it might take 2 years of NHL experience before being able to attempt a role like that if he can't crack 2nd line but is only scoring at .35 gpg in Abby but those goals were goal scorer's creative ones and others laser beam shots but this isn't the big euro rink where you have all day to pick your shot with lots of time so it's an adjustment, how long will it take for him to settle in and grow confidence like Podz is going through now? I wish I knew but probably another season in Abby and then see. Looking forward to it! I hope he makes it! I love the competitive side to him most of all
  8. Hoping last night was Podz's coming out party starting off and in full launch mode. Thinking we all knew it was going to happen but was just "when?" Keep it up Podz!!
  9. Ok lol I'll explain it later but that's not what I was getting at and you'll see what I mean but I need to ask this, have you been watching Podz play lately? He's picking it up game by game and looking like he could slot into 2-3 line for a long time, it's not his skill that was ever in question, it was the length of adjustment time he'd need here like most Euro's need (with exceptions) Now, he's probably running at 60-70% max of his ceiling and all he needs is more ice time.. Finish this off later and you'll have a better idea of what I mean after I explain it
  10. Your number 2 is dead wrong.. if we drop Boeser and Garland, sign Miller and toughen up the incoming bottom six players, and add a RHD that will make us a contender. Klimovich might be a Godsend like Podz but that's a wait and see.
  11. We need to play every game just like it's a do it die playoff game.. if we don't, Demko can only do so much then we sink but we'll see what we're really made of either way and that will give management a good idea what to do exactly in the off-season for trades and signings
  12. Now there's a post I can completely agree with, if we had some more players with bite I'd be stoked for a change, the best it is now is "hopeful" but if we toughen up then hopeful would become "stoked" but this is Vancouver and I swear sometimes this team is cursed.. usually for us, if it's not one thing it's another.
  13. Ummm this is hardly new.. over our history we've had teams like this but that's all around the season like you said but the playoffs aren't like this at all and we all know it, this team could not withstand the gruelling slugfest that can go hard for 7 games in a single series and when that leads to injuries as they always has, and we have only a tiny bit of depth right now so even if we do squeak into the playoffs and we get hit with injuries as usual, we're screwed, if we do get bigger and fast with some skill for the roster that's stands a lot less chance of happening when other teams aren't tempted to run our stars ala HnD Sedin.. that's the kind of thing we've seen enough of but point is, and mark my words, IF by a miracle we make it in, you can bet it's going to get rough and we're not going to be a team that dominates physically, sure some games we play that game ok but when the bigger teams turn up the heat.. it won't be good..
  14. You know I often wonder what had happened if our better rosters of old actually had a farm team of players (right there) or even a handful who could jump up and fill in for injuries that happened, and guys jacked on painkillers and not at 100% was bad too.. that was normal back then for a lot of guys who should have been resting and recovering but forced into playing for lack of depth BUT we our picks were sold for the roster and I wonder if we would have had a cup by now..
  15. If those minor moves are moves to toughen up this roster with a bit of size it doesn't matter what happens.. it'll end up being the same ole b.s. no cup..
  16. Yeah actually I would have been pissed at Green if I was JB, from ruining or at least holding back the gains that were won by actually starting to really build a team and work on depth, JB was the first GM to actually try the Detroit model that was talked about here for so long but no one except JB tried to the degree he did. I think finally we have a GM maybe that has enough balls to stand up and tell folks what their doing, stick to building a team and politely tell fans to F off if they don't like it because otherwise it'll be the same old no cup routine with a depthless good regular season team that makes the playoffs but never win the cup, people can be clueless to think any other way is going to work especially our history of injuries and what happens when important players go down and no one to step in, no cup, nothing new and exactly what is doomed to continue unless ownership on down grows a set as well as the team and not cave to public clueless (for the most part) opinion but maybe we our new GM will finish what JB started for once in our history would be nice...
  17. Well lots of people and here on the boards were on about that we needed a coach that was good with younger guys as our plan was to shed all the old contracts. Green did ok with some of his players under his watch then he got out team to over perform in the bubble and then fans were even more boisterous about extending him and we're happy it happened. Then our team with a lot of new players needed time to settle in BUT all Green had to do is keep a simple set of systems and nothing complicated and make it easier but not only did he over complicate systems to the point some didn't have a clue as JT Miller expressed and then poor asset management from the bench on top of it all but it's on JB for not firing Green or telling Green to just let the team play and keep it simple. But because of the bubble and I wish that'd never happened in a way because of Green. Finally someone was trying to build a team and retool it until all the old guard were gone and a roster that would be cap compliant as kids like Hogs n Podz, klim and others trying to crack the roster to balance out having to resign Petey Hughes etc but Green just couldn't get it through his head to mix and match but keep it SIMPLE. If BB was coach from preseason onward we wouldn't be having this conversation I don't think. As much as people don't like it, JB did put together a fairly decent roster and grabbed us some pretty decent picks, no he wasn't perfect but we're at least a really good step in that direction.
  18. Almost a perfect night, Canucks win, Podz scores one, the Oilers lose, the Leafs lose (hate both teams and Calgary BUT Calgary won theirs. Well can't win em all, but that was close to perfect! On further review, news that Brad Marchard got kicked out of the league for doing something crazy.. THAT would rock the show forever!
  19. And then in the off-season pick up a couple of skilled tough bigger players who aren't pylons and we'd be better off in a deep playoff run, not get run over.
  20. 4-1 Canucks, hopefully Podz nets one for the effort he's been putting in, due for some puck luck.
  21. Yeah a lot has to do with their schedules are too, depending on how tough or lighter competition. At least we've had some time to rest by puck drop tomorrow but unless we play these last games like they actually are playoff games it's a toss up but we still can't afford to spot a whole first period or we're done like dinner. Seems to me that's changed so let's hope they keep it up and press hard for a full 60 and then we might just get there but with Boeser out, it will be that much harder. Hope the rest of the season meant a month-ish and not much more so he can make it back in if we get to the post.. (crossing fingers at any rate)
  22. No, not even close, all the way up to last year until the last of the old guard and all the long the contracts of Mike Gillis were gone JB's ability to build the team that he wanted was limited and picks to have some experience to see where they were in the development curve required waiting but why people can't take that into account before passing judgement is beyond me... How people open their mouth's or finger tips typing it, saying stupid things without taking in the ramifications of what this team was like before JB joined up is what the stupid part is. That's not even the worst part of the reality of players having to be overpaid to play here to make up for taxes that are higher than the usa by a fair enough margin to make a big enough difference in a player's choice where to play.
  23. Yeah too bad he got injured and never really got going. Seriously too bad though, he put up some good numbers in London and looked pretty damn good but it happens...
