  1. Yes that was EXACTLY it, tons of media were all over it like it was a done deal before it even happened, and you know how that goes, media is always right so the fans that believe it, make noise and then... well you know what happened. Same thing with LE, the last big name FA available after the big teams got theirs and after the Sedins did well at the world's with LE, the same thing, instead of standing pat and waiting for a bigger faster tougher and skilled player like Anson Carter would have changed the scenery but JB went for LE like the media predicted and fans agreed.. sigh.. same ole!
  2. me too.. considering we just go the team back together for the first time in what seemed like forever, a point is a point and after a cpl of practices and games together we'll be fine... wait we lost one again.. trade everyone and tear it down!!!! lol
  3. Whoa I remember all those guys, and yeah was quite the era that's for sure. 4th line big boys going at it was crazy to see, but I remember especially the Flyers, (my second fave team and Islanders 3rd) so I loved watching the antics, but for the Flyers even Bobby C had teeth missing from fights, and against the MTL cdns were epic. And Bossy Trots and Gillies were fun to watch... I miss those days... but the bench brawls were something else and happened so much the earned the saying, I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out! lol
  4. ok it took awhile but my bad, it was joey kocur we picked up who like Probert did his time with the red wings. meh.. my fave of all time is Brash though for us. Loved how he tuned Marty M, that was classic as Pavel's elbow, well not quite as memorable but a close second maybe but one of my fave's was Clouts (then on the Rangers) going bezerk on the islanders in the Salo incident and challenged the whole islander team to anyone who would fight him.. he totally destroyed Salo though..
  5. He won't walk for nothing, negotiations will start before the trading deadline next season and if he won't sign then he'd be traded, no GM in his right mind would do otherwise.
  6. hmmm trying to think of who it was then, 42 years becomes a blur looking back, ok I'll put some thought into it.. you know how someone mentions a Band and a song you know but can't remember the name.. ok Google here I come.
  7. That wouldn't be hard, it would be flow, Bo has a lot of time in and the C on his jersey, Petey is getting back to where he normally is so probably not him, so that leaves Flow out again. However Garland is also not worth chump change either but I still haven't bothered to look at the contract details of guys we could dump as in hunt, lammiko, etc. plus Lou is off the books so that will help too finally but not until next year but we can live with that. However partially because of that JR might wait until next year before he pulls of a multiplayer deal IF that becomes available OR use some of it to re-up Bo and bank the rest. However, who knows... lots of options... the only priority is making sure there is money in the bank for when it comes time to re-up JT because like i said before in the last 2 weeks of the trade rumours, only a fool would trade him. Even considering his value on the market. You don't trade a guy that scores game winning goals as much as he does AND like last night.. basically wins the game for us by his efforts. No way do you ever let that go. Horvat needs to play like JT, in other words, not streaky. Anyway seems like a lot of roads we could take but all we can do is hope JR gets on the right one.
  8. Yeah making Probert mad was a bad idea, was surprised when we signed him but even if he was older (I think) at the time, he could still fight ok but in his prime he was a beast that a team did not want to wake up!
  9. you do realize your making me feel old here right? lol
  10. yeah we had tougher teams in the past but not much on depth and not skilled enough but decent.. for us, it's usually been one or the other, and never quite balanced enough and the depth to go along with it to not only win a cup but stay in the hunt every year. Goes to show the best balanced teams aren't soft, nor big pylons win cups. I cringed after Anson left and the twins never quite found a big linemate to police for them after that, if we had Burr in a bigger body by a few inches and 20-30 pounds would have been amazing but he did great despite that, however getting that perfect balance is the hardest thing to do as a team and a GM to pull it off is equally as hard to find. Do we have that in JR? no idea but hopefully he gets it
  11. seriously? one player (Odjick or Brash or Ryp) 1 player doesn't make your whole team tougher... it's by committee.. Not bias, and do we have a cup and I missed one or something?! The 2 shots we did have, were with decent sized rosters. Yet we didn't depth when injuries happened so another no cup reason..
  12. except for 94 and 2012, we have been nothing but a cream puff team with no pushback... unless this gets solved it won't ever change, like it or not. Cream puff teams never get a cup, get beaten up in the early rounds and no top tier depth to step in when injuries etc happen. Sound familiar?!
  13. ugly jerseys... might have looked ok in white or blue but that red is uglyyyy, and besides it's the flames colour so even worse.
  14. first yeah we do need Myers and his size especially, Pearson can stay or go, I'm on the fence but Eddie, the CDC embodies fantasy hockey trading at its finest! thanks for the chuckle btw... if it was only half as easy as some people here think, not all but quite a few seem to be all over trading like it's JUST that easy and all you can do is laugh. Laugh even harder when a guy like JT Miller becomes available and for a steal, and yet they listen to the media and think we got F'd over on it. I'll never forget that as long as I live and I still chuckle every time he scores or assists one. Miller never ceases to amaze and to top it off last game he stops a goal, passes the puck in all of a few seconds and motte is off to the races. Best all around player on the roster. STEAL!!!
  15. are you kidding, for that kind of skill, drive, etc. 1st year with us, his scoring matches Ovie for almost the entire year and at half Ovie's salary, but the guy is more of a complete player than anyone else on our whole team and no if I was GM, there's no way in hell I let a player elite player like him walk, even if due a raise. So no it's hardly an attachment issue, Only Demko and Miller are hands off but only those 2.. a close second is Myers because we need bigger players.. it's long overdue for toughness to be added so that's my own reason for keeping him too but can be another guy IF he's big but doesn't have to be 6'8..
  16. yeah but who else saves a goal from our net and assists on our goal IN their net in a 7 secs flat or less? If we trade JT, that would be one of the worst mistakes in the history of the franchise.
  17. yeah I remember Malik from his OT highlight reel goal but past that? meh...
  18. OEL can't skate?? and yeah 3rd pairing D like Poolman/Hunt/Schenn are plugs until you can find better which by the way isn't exactly easy because the elite/better are usually playing in the USA for obvious reasons... BUT I hope the JR doesn't bow down to the public and keep us a high-end entertaining soft SEASONAL team which that idea for the Canucks is dinosaur OLD! However, I'm just worried we stay a soft smaller team like we always have less the odd exception in 40+ years, isn't encouraging at all... it's a bigger problem than that though, new D on 3rd pairing but good ones AND bigger, faster, and tougher. if not.. we're F'd as usual...
  19. did you see the replay of his close he was to him and laid up for just a heartbeat and shoved his stick in to try and block/deflect it which was his mistake instead of pouring it on, that extra stride, and lifting his stick and obviously he didn't.. watch the replay again and you'll see what I mean. it wasn't a difficult thing to do, you practice that in Jr. ffs! lol but seriously, watch it again and tell me that it wasn't possible. It would be in the highlights..
  20. seriously? I don't know even where to start on this, but ask a question, have you been paying attention? sitting here in shock that anyone would say that when a team is this close, having a great core is one thing but to have elite support is another, and you can only make due with what's available and everyone in vancouver thinks players will automatically want to come here and can simply be offered a deal and they'd take it.. that's so not true, have to overpay them usually to be in Canada in the first place and want term so we can, like any other team, be stuck with players that don't fit even though they showed signs of it before arriving. Anyway if your going to start trading, Demko, Miller, Petey, and Hughes are off limits.. I wouldn't though before JR has a chance to pull of a multiplayer deal for 2 big fast skilled and tough players, one on forward, one on Defence. This would be a big step forward but fold the core and the "supporting" cast can change except for motte, I could care less about.
