If your the Canucks and lacking in 3rd pairing D and D as a whole, if your offered D coming back then yes you make that deal but trading F for F isn't 1st on the list. As fracking awesomeness Demko is, he can't hold the fort all by himself forever, he needs help first, toughen up with speed and skill too and then see what happens but even after all that we have to develop depth to get anywhere.

Well don't forget the terms of those contracts and see who is doing the laughing as those 2 slow down from having their best days behind them and the tail end of that is now, Tanev isn't getting any younger and believe me when I tell you old injuries affect you and slow you down the older you get and with Tanev his injury list is 10 miles long as we all know. Markstrom isn't a young guy either so keeping both guys on the wrong side of 30 won't help out cause as we move forward. We can hardly afford to have that any longer.

And OEL isn't a small player and will throw off the gloves, not that he's a fighter but can stand up for himself or someone else, Worth the extra money for that opposed to QH? Certainly, size is something you can't teach but that needs to be paired together. Smaller is ok for a fast PMD but has to be paired up with a guy who isn't afraid of physical. That's why a good option for us is that QH can be paired with Myers if teams want to try to target QH because of his size. We sorely need some skilled fast bigger guys but that's up to JR...

A proper rebuild takes time and the majority of the "win it all now" club that make up a lot of the fan base and has for so many years, at the expense of the farm, deemed Vancouver a no cup zone and unless this kind of thinking ends then we're doomed for more of the same. Edit: Your wrong about the ownership/management building a contender by now statement, you can't just circumvent contract law and make players change their stance on their ntc's and nmc's, you can ask them to but that's it. After Gillis, we had a roster full and it took years to clear it out, sand it's still here in a way. Tanev was the last player gone but Luongo is still on the books until the end of this season so if it was then that a new GM took over with a clean slate ish, but back then in 2013-2014 it was anything but.

STILL can't believe people wanted to trade him, ppg players just don't come along everyday and unless it's for a premium top pairing offensive D. Speaking of defense, starting there, our beak outs are awful and guys aren't thinking "get open" for an easy pass and even forwards aren't doing it anywhere near what's needed so we lose the puck, get running around and then give up a scoring chance. THIS has to be addressed, it's killing us!

disagree with the last part, Myershas the size intangible and you know we're going to need that eventually unless we find another bigger Dman in his place, the season can rock the show but when it's rough in the playoff's, it's no place for softness which we've seen for years. Do we have a cup? no.. and that has a lot to do with it. Until we match size and skill, throughout the whole roster, nothing is going to change.

No, Hamonic is a enigma at the moment but a lot of this depends on the outcome of his status and it's a pretty big one considering he's in a 2nd pairing spot. In the meantime he will help us defensively and we need it!

Scoring for the D is always helpful BUT imo if a team NEEDS to depend on that then we're in trouble, I'd rather have a D who can help keep the puck out of the net so we don't NEED scoring from the D at all. That being said, it's our entire team defence that needs work. hopefully BB is working on that with the guys though and we tighten up and not have to rely on Demko so much either.

oh yeah forgot about holts, but I guess it's Halak in favour of Martin next season? However it's kind of $hitty that Halak isn't getting game time in to stay sharp but last night wasn't on him.. hopefully he gets a few more starts and plays lights out so we get something in return but at 36, was only a stop gap to get a better look at Mikey D because we need to get a cheaper backup so atm I think it could be Martin instead while Mikey gets more playing time but we can save cap there but at the end of the day, I'm pretty sure JR is going to do some lightening of the load to cap dump. How will he pull that off? I'm not sure but I don't think it will be popular losing guys but we HAVE to do it or stay mediocre.. no cup..
