  1. Although he wasn't quite the sniper he was at a rookie, I think some people forget that he was our leading scorer just two years ago during the COVID year with 49 points in 56 games--playing every game in the season. He was health and on pace for 33 or 34 goals and over 70 points, but that was a shortened year due to COVID. After that, he had a terrible 2021-22, both hockey-wise and personally. This year was a little better, but not by too much.
  2. As my favourite off-ice Canuck currently, nothing would make me more pleased than to see Brock score 30+ and get to 65-75 points--I know he can play at that level, he's just never strung a full season of it together.
  3. Every time I see something like this, I'm reminded of Bruce's motivational speech to him during that one practice.
  4. I presume you're still working on the OP, since some of the stats and facts seem a year out of date. Excited for the team, especially on defense. Eager to see if Rathbone bounces back or if he fades away into permanent AHL territory. Woo has a chance to take a top pairing job this year if he keeps playing well. Might even earn some NHL time. If Wolanen goes back to Abbotsford though, then it could get tough with Rathbone as competition.
  5. Any Canucks fan from the WCE and the years leading up to 2011 know how good Kipper was in his prime.
  6. Definitely true. When Miller is on his game, he's a great two-way centre.
  7. Miller's effort was pretty poor to start the year, but he worked hard near the end and his two-way game returned.
  8. Indeed, Blueger will likely be the PK1 guy, but I'd love Petey as the PK2 guy, perhaps with Miller, as long as Miller puts in the effort.
  9. He may have stated that, but Petey's PK TOI% actually went slightly up under Tocchet.
  10. OT goals have only existed since the early 80s, but it's still pretty incredible that Gretzky nor Lemieux never did this.
  11. Good price actually, though very likely just a cheap bridge. Might be good for them to win another Cup though. They aren't likely thinking long term with Jeannot, just extending their window.
  12. Heavily disagree, but I know better than to argue with you, Alf
  13. You have now survived the King Heffy Trial Initiation. Welcome, friend.
  14. I did a deeper analysis of our forwards and added Blueger in for good measure. My final rankings for last year's defensive forwards (I used the same analysis I do for the Selke) was: 1. Pettersson 2. Miller 3. Horvat 4. Blueger 5. Joshua +/- is definitely his worst defensive stat, but he's better in all the other areas. His face-off percentage was 3rd on the team last year at 53.5% and his takeaways were 5th. He played on PK2 a fair bit last year and had relatively strong results (for a Canucks PP, at least) with 9.29 PPGA/60. His puck possession, looking at scoring chances for is fairly bad at 44.96%--his ozS% is fairly low at around 46%, but his possession should still probably be better than about 45% there. Truthfully, Joshua being 5th on the list (of 16 players) points more to our dearth of defensive forwards last year, but the point still stands that he was definitely one of the better ones last year. I really hope he's given a fair chance to become a 3rd liner next year, maybe even as a C.
  15. Great news. Was talking to my friend yesterday that while it looks cool to see Brock looking jacked, what he really needs is to be 190-195lbs and more speedy.
  16. These are my thoughts exactly. The Type R is the best, but Hyundais are such a drastically better price that if price matters to you, get a Veloster, Elantra, or Kona N.
  17. Sounds to me like the salesman understands that the manager is giving you a raw deal and is trying to do you a solid. There's a subreddit called r/askcarsales that you should post this in, there are tons of salesmen there who can tell you about the inner workings of the industry.
  18. Almost 100% the guy then, unless Hirsch is leaving radio and we don't know about it.
  19. I definitely read this as Boeser for Kuzmenko and thought you were sniffing.
  20. There's a lot more to defense than +/-. If I weren't at work, I'd do a deep dive into some other metrics to get a better idea of his defense (darn work firewall...).
