  1. His face-off percentage is pretty brutal. I'd rather try Joshua, who has a proven track record at being solid at face-offs and played C in St. Louis.
  2. I have a hard time believing they would choose to let Juice go. Hoping it's because he's coming back to Vancouver.
  3. Classic example of a goalie who could be elite with 30-40 games, but would struggle as a true #1. Still a great career though.
  4. Old thread from last season. I believe he's expected to be ready for training camp.
  5. I see Blueger as a elite 4C. I'd rather try Joshua at 3C and see if he can make that work.
  6. Obviously a bridge deal, so it's cheap. He'll get paid big time after this if he continues to do well.
  7. Looking for him to impress out of training camp this year. He was way too good for AHL hockey by the end of last year.
  8. Probably a better safe than sorry move from him. The potential fallout wouldn't be worth a jersey number. Kinda starting to agree tbh though. The Canucks have done an amazing job of preserving Luc's legacy--the number thing, which isn't even official, seems unncessary.
  9. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I have a feeling fans are expecting way too much of Soucy. I was stunned to find that most fans expect him to play a bigger role than Cole, despite spending almost his entire career on the bottom paring thus far. Cole, on the other hand has spent regular time in the top 4 and even spot duty with guys like Hedman and Sergachev.
  10. I do wonder if Cole or management talked to the Bourdon family before taking #28 first. I wouldn't expect Cole to know, so I'd place the onus more on management.
  11. There was definitely an air of desperation around it at the time.
  12. Far as I know, he has no history of attitude issues, so I don't think that's a concern.
  13. I liked Willie D for a while, but I gotta say, he really screwed up by not sending these kids back down.
  14. Beat the twins and you get an automatic spot on the starting roster.
  15. Good contract for both sides. He's a stretch when it comes to scoring or defense, but his physical game does provide value. The cheap contract means it's easy to work with and three years on a one-way deal provides great job security for MacEwen.
  16. Yeah, pretty young to retire for a coach, but maybe he's ready to spend more time with family and doesn't see the need to keep working like he does.
  17. There's a lot more to being a two-way defenseman than takeaway differential, but it is a good indicator. There are also other metrics that imply that Hughes isn't bad defensively either, which is what sells it for me. I had a co-worker contend Hughes was a worse version of Karlsson, but I fairly strongly believe that his defensive game is significantly better than Karlsson's. Hughes' offensive game is better than his defensive game and I suspect he'll play his entire career known as an offensive defenseman, but his defense certainly isn't a liability at this point.
  18. He definitely improved quite a bit near the end of the year in Abby, but I'm not sure he's NHL level yet.
  19. Unless Woo has continued to improve dramatically, I'd be concerned if he makes the team. Hirose is above him IMO and Myers is obviously missing from your roster, so I presume you're thinking we shed some draft picks to lose his last year?
  20. Correct, actually, so he's taking a pay cut. Still, given he spent most of his time in Abbotsford here, he may have not had one way options this time, so the large AHL salary helps compensate.
  21. Welcome to CDC! Threads in this section require tags, such as [Proposal], so that it's obvious it's not a real trade. Note: Tags are mandatory only in the Trades, Rumours, Signings forum and in the Proposals and Armchair GM'ing forum.
  22. Big AHL salary. Will miss him in Abby, but I can see why he went for that. Utica will treat him well.
  23. Yeah, I think he was maybe even a healthy scratch at times?
  24. Solid AHL player, but honestly, pretty replaceable. Good fighter though.
