  1. but i do think there is a distinct difference this is a new challenge that has a huge upside if tackled smartly and effectively many lives can be saved by not being idle or complacent about this one it is true that people die everyday but the causes are multiple and often due to complex societal issues which were being addressed in the normal sophisticated dull thorough way these things are done not dramatic or fresh i think the current attention and energy being spent on this novel virus is a very good investment and a good placement of priorities
  2. yes i get your point but it is sometimes sport to just quibble once in a while just for the sake of it i do agree it is a bit baffling what upsets some people clearly the virus is a big deal but so far it has been handled very well in bc too many do not appreciate that enough it provides a great deal of comfort to me and engenders confidence i am upset about other places though saddened about new york troubled about quebec (and there are many other places that engender upset)
  3. jimmy i beg to differ i am just sitting on my ass right now but maybe you were not clear regarding your definition of CDC
  4. i blame the degree of calm that has been achieved in bc it has taken the most extreme worries out of the equation here presently
  5. well you are free to live how you wish but i do note this is the second time you have responded to one of my posts and did not deal with the content of my post but simply just said something neutral so you could continue down your present path and narrative that provides thin value to me so i'm not spending more energy on this discussion
  6. wow really? you really would take such risks based on your apparent belief in your own expertise i find that a bit stunning not sure why you would ignore so much data about this disease and look to the examples of successful strategies that have greatly limited transmissions (and i specifically exclude china's strategy)
  7. cheers i imagine you are run down presently recovery takes time stay strong but, i think you underestimate the understanding the experts have about the complexity of a virus in complicating the profile regarding cause of death you are viewing most things presently through a dark lens i sense due to your having to deal with this virus so personally and likely have some sense of betrayal as a result i'm not suggesting at all that the key medical individuals will be 100% correct things will be missed for sure but there is also modelling available to deal with this short coming so that a more accurate indication of the full impact of the virus can be determined
  8. i am working steadily during this time of crisis i cannot read all things people may recommend be read on line i rely on certain sources that are reliable on the key medical considerations of this virus it seems you may be confusing the medical issues regarding this virus with non medical matters it is always an opportunity in a time of crisis to manipulate social order and other norms in the name of battling the crisis however, that does not really alter the medical understanding/assessment of how to deal with the virus again, i have not reviewed all your post on here as i do not have the time nor read all the sources you recommend reading
  9. i do not agree what is your basis for this conclusion? any death that has some relation to this virus will have a coroner or doctor (or other health person) involved to determine primary cause of death we have just seen recently a coroner's report relating to and confirming the 1st community death in bc that is what will continue to happen i think your skepticism is limiting you a little in seeing what is really going on in bc
  10. so to be clear i do wish to see regular updates from you not only to see you reached full health but also to see how you have determined how to best use your unique bolstered health status to blaze a new path for yourself and the rest of us in this time of crisis this is the sort of story we need to see and read to give us hope as we have not yet reached the darker days of this pandemic
  11. you are qualified to make this assessment?? really?? our local government is following mostly the advice of the bc centre for disease control a world leader in virus prevention/treatment your general statement is severely distorted the steps taken in bc actually appear to be working presently
  12. you actually do those numbers just are not being reported and frankly, that annoys me not because they should report the non confirmed virus cases necessarily but because they promised they would do so and then simply have not and to my knowledge, no explanation for this change of position has been given but these cases are being tracked listen the upside for you is that you have had it, got through it, early (it appears you are well on your way to recovery) you are immune (though not 100% certainty about what this means) you can relax, unlike the rest of us this crisis is likely over for you in terms of your personal health if i knew i'd get through it, even going through what you did, i'd opt to get sick now and be done with this issue (in my health) then i could get on freely with my life and use my bolstered new health status to get out there and help those who are at risk from the virus many will envy you soon enough cheers (and despite your unhappiness bear in mind that bc has done an excellent job so far the curve appears to be flattened here so the strategy used was extremely effective)
  13. sorry to hear you appear to have come down with the current illness wish you strength and recovery it is always difficult to respond to a post that has this level of personal content clearly you are frustrated and unhappy most about your early dealings with the illness the information that we are given is that there is a very difficult balance to deal with individual illness onset and protection of society being exposed to illness if too much intervention happens maybe that balance was not evenly applied in your situation, and that is unfortunate individuals can bear disproportionate burdens when the medical system is under siege i cannot image having to deal with you dealt with but i suspect you are not alone, and the future may see a lot more of what you endured i appreciate you feel testing may have done something for you i'm not sure what though the path of your illness and recovery is unlikely to have altered had you been tested doctors and medical people diagnose illness in a majority of situations without resort to a specific test it would be helpful for all if you update this thread regularly with how you are doing hopefully you have family or other supports that are helping you (at distance) at this time reach out to others if you need help ps: ensure you disinfect regularly any and all devices you may be using to communicate to the world, hand washing is much less effective if we put down our phone/lap top, wash our hands, and the pick up our phone/lap top, without disinfecting it as well.... .. maybe your hands might have been effectively clean for maybe 10 seconds only
  14. don't worry about that we will not be the first in line to do that move other countries are ahead of us and will likely try to get active again before we are ready so we can learn from mistakes they make we were not first to have to deal with the virus and as a result were well prepared and thorough investigation and planning took place i see the same with lifting the constraining recommendations
  15. i do physical work so the exercising is not really the issue for me the increase in idleness is the issue health studies show that sitting too much is not overcome by exercise it is important to stay moving but we are stuck at home with limited options and the richest options are sitting and watching (and learning in that process as well)
  16. hey i agree but so much of life now is isolating that is hard to overcome emotionally
  17. we all know this stuff but doing everything solo does impact on motivation in a non helpful way
  18. the concern i have is that this is not really a mind over matter sort of issue lack of meaningful direct engaged social contact doing things together without continual concern over distance is not healthy it has a negative impact on many a lot of this is inducing early signs of depression increased idleness increase intake for soothing effects are not good signs on the mental health and addiction spectrums i see these issues as growing for many over the next number of weeks
  19. i agree hard to establish new reliable routines in this time of crisis i still work but my down time is completely messed up and am way way more idle these days (there are no easy stimulating options besides sitting and watching) so reminders are not a bad thing in my view food has fallen a little into the entertainment category and does provide some comfort for me these days never viewed food this way before
  20. until a day or 2 ago there has been steady reporting throughout the day that is changing now particularly usa numbers re setting the clock early 2 days recently has nothing to do with lagging behind someone is interfering with the 24 hour reporting clock just wondering what is going on and why
  21. anyone at all ? know why WHO stats are now being played with there is no longer steady reporting last night stat tracker re set early again and there has basically been very minimal reporting in the past 13 hours ? are government agencies interfering with reporting ? (holding back numbers until later each day?) why is the tracking / reporting changing ? people are going to lose confidence in this as a reporting source if they keep manipulating things seems odd that a large number of ontario new deaths were posted right after the clock re set yesterday and are on today's stats rather then yesterday but very little else released from canada today as well
  22. bc has less then 400 active confirmed cases presently (confirmed less recovered and dead)
  23. you think there is a different outcome if a test is given and it comes back positive? they are sent back home no matter the result where do you think they should be going ? what do you think the purpose of a test is ? i really think you do not understand symptoms can be enough for a solid diagnosis a test is not required for that sole purpose
  24. man what a freak show how do i donate to this ministry? they are gonna rid us of covid19 and get us a vaccine? why do we need a vaccine? unless the ridding of covid19 does not work? if the ridding does not work, why would anyone believe the vaccine would ? it's a conundrum
  25. so i am generally very much against conspiracy theories as far far too often they distract from the truth and from reality and attempt to create a different reality yesterday i was monitoring the WHO webpage that provides corona updates live basically it updates the virus data throughout the day it switches its data daily at 7 pm (pst) - or at least i think that is the time and yesterday i noted around 6:15 pm that the usa data stuck at an odd number 19,999 of new confirmed cases. i kept updating this page and it did not change it suddenly changed to 20,3** something this over 20k number was not visible except for a minute or 2 on the WHO data page and then for some reason the WHO web page started its new 24 hour clock a minute or 2 later early around 6:30 (i did not track the exact time as i was not tracking time.. i assumed it must be 7 .. then noted shortly it was not yet 7) did anyone else notice this? can anyone explain why WHO started the 24 hour clock on its web page early yesterday ? am i the only one who noticed this ? seems the usa did not want anyone to see their count went over 20k yesterday currently the count is 24,492, i just refreshed.. and the page has not turned over to a new 24 hour clock yet it's 6:41 (pst) now anyone????? has anything they can comment about this ? edit: today the 24 hour clock started at 7 again
