  1. Our defense isn't the only issue but 2 games in 8 goals against. Can't give up 4 goals a game & win. Burroughs looked good last night. Hope he plays that hard every night. Hughes - Looked like he's scared to get hit, the league has taken note that in the defensive zone, plaster him, he'll start rushing & making mistakes. Same thing was noted on the PP obviously. Philly was pressuring Hughes & Petey the second they got the puck. OEL - Steady game, didn't really stand out in any way. You want that from your 5/6 guys, you want something to pop off the sheet from your 1/2 dmen and nothing did at all except for how many board battles they lost collectively. Schenn - physical, steady, what we've come to expect from him. Stillman - didn't notice him much which is what you want from a 5/6. I thought we were lucky to be up 2, certainly didn't reflect the play on the ice. The whole group is manure right now.
  2. Welp, that's the game folks, this team doesn't have the fortitude to come back.
  3. Huge advantage for Flyers defense, they don't have to worry at all about getting hit like that by the Canucks. We are soft as silk up front, you might get a light rub out but you aren't getting hit.
  4. Seems like the memo is out, pressure Petey, Hughes and they will cough it up on the PP. Every time either guy has the puck there is someone on top of them right away.
  5. If we score on this PP in the 3rd we win, 1 more deflating thing to happen and we end up losing by 3. Guys need some confidence and some momentum. Right now it looks like the Flyers are bigger, faster, stronger and more committed.
  6. Love how I think I've seen the highest level of stupid and then this comes out. There are 2 players on the Canucks that can reliably win faceoffs. Why anyone wants to trade a 30goal, 55% FO, fast centerman who is young is beyond me. I wanted to trade Miller when I wasn't sure we would re-sign him, when we did I was content with the decision. If we can't get a deal done with Bo I'm going to be pissed. He is a great player, a good leader and the hardest working guy on the ice every night.
  7. Refs you suck chant from a crowd who literally witnessed refs gifting them a goal when the Canucks should be on a 5 min pp.
  8. Quinn is a top 2 (#1 is top 2) definitely one of the better offensive defensemen in the league. He's not great defensively though. OEL was a top defenseman, he isn't any longer. He's a #4 on a good team, not even an elite team, a good team. The only team in our division where he would be a #1 is Seattle and that is questionable. Myers is not a 3 on a good team, just stop. Poolman is a #7 on a good team. Over rating our players because of emotional attachment is understandable but you are wrong if you go through the stats.
  9. They aren't that wrong. That is a horrendous defense corp. Easily one of the worst in the league. If anything happens to Demko we are going to lose a lot of games. The NHL has shown time and again that you cannot run a team out with the hopes of outscoring your problems. Demko last year was the only reason we finished as good as we did. We need better defensemen, bottom line we have 1 top 2 defenseman and then a 4 and a bunch of 6-8s. Forward group is strong but we are going to get exposed in defensive zone all year.
  10. I'd say no. Horvat is a top center in this league. He literally does everything for the team and isn't replaceable by anyone on the roster. I swear most of you folks are drunk when you make proposals. What GM in their right mind would trade a fast, big, 30 goal scoring, 54% FO winning center for anything short of a franchise #1 d-man? Let's not forget that center takes most draws in the defensive zone, kills penalties, plays on the PP, and drives the offense on his line. He is also the captain. Folks want to trade that for a 6'-3" 180lb left defenseman who has a career high of 35pts in a season in 2018 who also isn't good in his own zone? Thank Christ none of you are the GM. This guy is an easy pass, not worth spending assets to aquire.
  11. I have low expectations. If these guys make the playoffs they aren't likely to get past round 1. The defense was a problem last year and we only managed to get the group 1 year older. No improvements on the back end is going to be the story come December I feel. Good forward group, not great but good, better than last year for sure. Goaltender is our strength, depending on what Martin does as backup of course. This feels like a team that is hoping to outscore it's defensive problems which never seems to be a winning recipe once the playoffs start.
  12. According to Shannon he believes Klingberg hasn't signed yet because he has priced himself out of the market. Said Klingberg was asking for so much that Dallas couldn't even entertain it. I'm going to say I really hope we give this one a great big, yeah no.
  13. You really wanted him to be guilty. Get help, that's sick.
  14. Only people who would know that would be those also in the Vancouver nightlife. Entirely likely the accusers are as terrible as the accused.
  15. Yeah, you don't read at all. I even mentioned hindsight as the tool that is being used to judge the pick, but carry on donkey, carry on.
  16. 9.5mil salary in Alberta = 4.9mil in actual money. 9.5mil salary in Florida = 5.79 mil in actual money Same in Texas, Nevada Utah it's 5.3mil. Point is over 8 years that's 7.12 mil in your pocket and it goes even further considering the cost of living is cheaper in the US too. If you're dumb enough to leave that much money behind then you'd be happy any where, after all Ignorance is Bliss.
  17. Every draft ranking for the OJ Tkachuk draft had Tkachuk as the higher pick. Every single one. This wouldn't have been a miss if Benning went up thinking BPA. It seemed clear to me his plan was PLD or defense. At the time OJ was ranked quite high with lofty praise, so if he was drafting positionally he made a solid pick. Injuries took out OJ's best asset, his skating ability. This was a bad pick made worse by the success of people picked before & after him, but it's only a bad pick in hindsight. I didn't like it personally because I want PLD or Tkachuk but that's because we were small and needed a bit of snarl at the time.
  18. I'd want out of Canada too. Half your salary going to taxes or keep most of that half in your pocket...hmm, tough call for sure.
  19. I think there a lot of naysayers on this site when it comes to what you can get for a 100pt, face-off winning, grit centre with bite. O'Reilly trade brought in 3 roster players, a 1st & a 2nd. Fiala went for a 1st & a top prospect. Eichel went for a ton, better player but incredible risk with his neck. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a 1st, Top prospect and either a 2nd line forward or top 4 defenseman for JT. Either that or a top 2 Dman & a 1st and a 1 year contract to balance the money.
  20. Good signing for them. He's going to be really good for them for years.
