(Speculation) Where Will Patrick Kane Sign?
singing chef replied to RWJC's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
probably on the dotted line.................... -
Josh Holden 12th o/a 1996. Great credentials coming out of junior and team needed a point producing centre. Flopped - sort of like most of our 1st. round picks back then. EDIT: Since posting I have been advised that Holden suffered a career threatening injury which limited his effectiveness. Therefore I retract my comments.

More to the point - why are they not wearing PFDs ?

Agree. 23 y.o. 6'3" 201 lbs. Last season had 12g, 14a, 64 pim and a massive 304 hits ! -
[Signing] Golden Knights re-sign Ivan Barbashev

Agreed - what we really need are some productive young entry level players. -

Travis Dermott. 27 y.o. LHD, 6'2" 202 lbs. $1.5MM cap hit, RFA (and yes, I realize he was on IRL part of last season). -

Don't forget we have Dermott. -
.....p.s. - I'm guessing this flew over most posters' head !

Thanks for posting Rupert. I agree - it did not. What I was trying to do with the post I made was to make fun of the many posters on this forum who have for months mocked the Oilers for having to endure Nurse's 8 x $9.25MM contract, while at the same time scream at Canucks management to find and sign a defenseman who is BIG, heavy, hits, blocks shots, fights etc. - which epitomizes Nurse to a "T" - 28 y.o., 6'4", 221 lb, stats in 2023: 82g.p. (a full season !), 12g, 31a, +26, 64 pim, 146 hits, 164 blocked shots, sticks up for his team-mates. It's the irony that made me post a sarcastic comment. I acknowledge that Nurse's contract is a bit rich but he does bring elements to the game that the Canucks fan base craves. If he was a R.H. shot I doubt anyone would quibble over his contract as he would be the perfect partner for Hughes for the next 8 years. That's all.

2023 Canucks end of season media availability
singing chef replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Why not both (Schenn & Gudas) ? Gudas has real snarl to his game. -
..... and for all those "The Sky Is Falling" posters who were ready to lynch management for trading the 1st. round draft pick the Canucks obtained in the Horvat trade which was "top 12 protected" and they thought the Islanders would fail miserably this year and defer the pick until next year when it would become a non-protected 1st. round draft pick and a potential lottery draft pick, you can all sleep easy since, mathematically, the pick will now be, at best (worst ?), 13th overall.

[Signing] Predators sign Jake Livingstone
singing chef replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'd LOVE me a Lauzon. 66 gp, 3g, 9a, -11, 66 pim, 245 h, 73 bs, 26 y.o. next month, 6'1" 204 lbs. Perfect deterrent to opponents who try to mess with our stars. -
(Rumour). Jake Livingstone D - NCAA - NHL Availability
singing chef replied to SilentSam's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yes - that's exactly what I did, to show that many of those players I used as comparables are tradeable. It's tough to trade mid-season when team cap limits are set. Off season provides better opportunity to root around for suitors. -

Respectfully disagree with some of your comments. It's tough to trade mid-season when team cap limits are set. Off season provides better opportunity to root around for suitors. Cheers. -

Referring to the bolded part in your post above, I feel your comments are a bit over the top. Agree that Boeser has not had the production he anticipated this season and his salary cap hit is bulky at $6.65MM x 3 yrs, however he does have 46 pts in 63 games including 13 pp points. Try these comparables: Boeser $6.65 x 3 yrs, 63 games, 46 pts, 13 ppp, -18 Huberdeau $5.9MM this year, $10.5MM next 8; 70 games, 48 pts, 13 ppp, -3 Mangiapane $5.8MM 3 yrs, 73 games,35 pts, 2 ppp, +6 Mantha $5.7MM 3 yrs, 63 games, 27 pts, 2 ppp, -6 Copp $5.625MM 5 yrs, 71 games, 39 pts, 4 ppp, +3 W. Karlsson $5.9MM 5 yrs, 72 games, 47 pts, 8 ppp, +7 R. Johansen $8MM 3 yrs, 55 games, 28 pts, 10 ppp, -13 Not convinced that you'd need to attach picks to unload these contracts. The biggest knock against Boeser is the +/- and that has a lot to do with how the team has performed. No player on this list plays on a team below the Canucks in standings. I believe Boeser is tradeable on a "one-for-one" basis, be that a "live" player or a draft pick. Cheers. -
John Garrett to retire after this season
singing chef replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
He'll be 72 y.o. in June. Many people set 65 as retirement age so it's good for Cheech to recognize that it's time to spend time with family.
