Kuzy Pete Podz Mik Miller Klim McD Raty Krav Aman Dvorsky Bains *Dvorsky is a great pickup if the Canucks blow the lotto pick. He will likely become a top 6 C.

[PGT] Minnesota Wild at Vancouver Canucks | Mar. 02, 2023
higgyfan replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
If he can't be traded in the offseason, then yeah. -
I think he will. He'll be an all around player. He has such a great hockey IQ, passion for the game and is learning to play the right way. I remember the slow start in his early years in Russia, but by the time he left, he was one of the best players on his team. It may take longer than just a year though. He's just 20yrs, so there's a lot of time for him to develop his game. He's a keeper for sure.

Maybe there's still time to do the thing with Carolina. Liked that trade proposal better anyways. Giddyup PA. -

Actually, I don't even think the Pens get into the playoffs. -
I love this. Team is all in on developing the young players. Podz's shot is sure coming along nicely.
-
Yeah. I also doubt that he had much attention in New York, he's probably overwhelmed with the Vancouver media.
-
I've read that he blocks a lot of shots and has a powerful shot from the blue line.
-
He is quite physical with hits and blocks a lot of shots. His skating is good, hockey IQ good. At the draft, his defensive game was critiqued as "Filip Hronek has some solid defensive skills, but his lack of size and strength can be a detriment to his game. He has a quick stick which he can use to poke the puck off of an attacker's stick. He has good positioning, reads the play well and cuts down passing lanes. However, Hronek’s lack of muscle makes it difficult for him to clear the front of the net, or contain bigger forwards in the cycle game." At the draft, Hronek was 6' 163lbs. Right now he is the same height and 188lbs. He can handle the bigger forwards now. I understand the disappointment of losing the 1st, I felt that twinge as well. He's a top 4 RD, which has been hard for the Canucks to find. I'd like to see some games and see how he fits on the team before I condemn him. This team isn't going to be fixed over a few days, so we might sit back and watch all the other additions they pick up in the next few months. With Hronek joining the team, we now have 2 very good nhl dmen. There will more coming along in the future.

[Signing] Red Wings re-sign Dylan Larkin

I think that may have come from Pete's side. He knew that he would only get better during the 3yr interim contract. Pete's always been a confident alien. -
(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

Maybe, but there are other possibilities as well... 1. With a Miller + Horvat trades, the Canucks only have 1 scoring line. 2. The PK will take some time to improve. The team as a whole does not play a defensive game. The team only has 1 top 4 dmen. 3. It really depends on how Demko does. Can he stay healthy? -

I agree. He would be much happier there, playing on a viable team with some great players. I think he gets frustrated playing on our rag tag team and must know that he won't see any playoffs for a few years. Now that it's become obvious that the Canucks are now rebuilding, JT just doesn't fit the timeline. The Pens just seem to be a far better fit for a variety of reasons. -

They can still make the trade without flipping Zucker, but they would have to figure out what to do next season when Miller contract kicks in. I haven't looked at their cap space for next season. If they keep Zucker, they will have to re-sign him or let him walk at UFA. Imo, JT will put up much better #s then Zucker. -

If the Nucks are taking a cap dump McGinn 2.75X2 and an overpaid LD Pettersson 4.025, they should be getting a far better return than that. They don't need the extra cap space for Miller this season, if the Canucks take Blueger 2.2 (along with the 2M for waiving McGinn + Friedman + Penns cap space + flipping Zucker). Zucker's $ can be applied to JT's new contract. -

If they get JT, the Pens will likely flip Zucker (UFA) $5.5 at TDL. Geuntzel is putting up +++points, which is making his contract a bargain. He becomes a UFA after next season, so they could flip him if he wants too much in a new contract. -

Well, he would be decent part of a trade for an RD then. -

1st + NHL young LD(Joseph) + prospect (Owen Pickering LD) + I'll bet JR wants Blueger(ufa) back 3C.
