VICanucksfan5551
so, you into stuff like Dream Theatre then? or what sort of stuff do you enjoy? Dream Theater isn't even close to melodic death metal . They're okay though. My last.fm profile sums up what I listen to nicely: http://www.last.fm/user/Canuck5551 Link to comment

Melodic death metal is more stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjMCS-B8V3o Link to comment

VICanucksfan5551
gotta say, really diggin those first two VI. what are the best bands for this sort of stuff? not into harsh screamo stuff, but I dont mind stuff like that first In Flames song you posted. In Flames' albums The Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman are really good places to start, especially the first two. It's those albums that got me into melodeath. Insomnium's entire discography is strong, so any of their four (five come October) albums are well worth a listen. Aside from those two, I'd also recommend you check out Dark Tranquillity: And although they're more progressive death metal than melodic death metal, Opeth and Edge of Sanity are both very strong bands: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8atiEPs0bQ I've got tons more I could suggest, but those bands are probably the highlights of that general sound for me.
