Vansicle
A lot of people said that when Luongo signed with us. I just hope this fan base doesn't turn retarded again and run Schneider out of town in 3 or 4 years..but I see that I'm asking maybe a bit too much. Vansicle
Here's what I find encouraging about this signing. No one knew that MG and Schneider's camp had been working out on a deal. Many speculated that it wouldn't get done until Luongo was moved. Once again our management team manages to work in ways to keep the media out of the spotlight. This is a huge benefit to have in my opinion.

Li'l Fra
Hockey drama. Why am I so addicted? "...will the once darling franchise goalie leave town? Will the young, barely NHL proven goalie make fans forget the best netminder Vancouver has ever had?" "Tune in next week for another episode of 'Why having two great goalies is driving Canucks fans stir crazy.' "

Ray_Cathode
Haha, you're so funny. In the end, we paid more than Schneider's worth at the moment, but not much more. The situation wasn't on our side so paying more was inevitable I guess.

canucksnihilist
saves cap space for 3 years. huge because he gives similar quality to luongo, and is cheaper. can help us get another player, whoever that may be
Dogbyte
lol at the people that are sad that Lou is going. You've had months to deal with that. And super ha ha to those that are all sentimental and want to keep both. Numbers don't mean anything when you live in the forest. Right D or second line winger! Ray_Cathode
Yeah but not everyone knew if it was going to be now or later. Let alone, no one knew what the term was going to be. Negotiations could have gone sour. It proves to me that this management team are able to keep things from the press if they want someone bad enough. I thought this could have gone until at least mid July.

-Vintage Canuck-
Cory Schneider says opportunity to win here in Vancouver was maybe biggest factor for re-signing. Never intended to go elsewhere
Ray_Cathode
Luongo's 5.3 Million cap hit isn't the problem. With his skill sets its quite a bargain, problem with him is his contract, will he still be a 5.3 Million goalie in 7 years? Yeah it's possible he can be even better like Tim Thomas but that's quite a risk.
