[SIGNING] Cory Schneider Signed! - 3 Years, $4 Million Cap Hit

Recommended Posts

A steal for $4 million. It's very hard for anyone to argue Luongo over Schneider now. The only thing I'm worried about is that, despite his dominance, we've only seen a small sample of Schneider from time to time. He's never consistently played for weeks on end or even like, half a season, or even a full season for that matter.

What the hell is this cry about Schneider not taking a discount?! Jeez, the guy signed his first big payday deal in the NHL. Who would pass on the chance of getting serious money. All of you would! Discount deals might be made later on, maybe in three years. We signed a goalie that every team could use as a starter, and did it at a fair price considering the deals being made these days.

btw, he is cheaper than Ballard with that deal!

Canucks got ripped on this one, Schneider is no where near as good as Luongo but he's being paid almost the same amount. That's a lot of trust being put into an unproven kid in comparison to one of the league's best.

I hope MG keeps both goalies and makes a decision next season when he has to, because right now with the cap roof increasing he can comfortably keep both goalies for 9 million.

Again where in the book it says that every player has to take a discount. What he got was fair value and allows the Canucks to set him up for a discount on his next contract when his current contract expires. It's not that a hard concept to grasp. Do you not remember when the Canucks had to pay Luongo for 27 million with NO playoff experience? Fair value at the time. Same thing with Schneider.
