Master Mind
Regardless of what you want. Majority of fans are more than happy in keeping Schneider. Because it protects us from losing him to an offer sheet and if we lost him for a first and a third you would still be crying.
CrippledCanuck
That's a little rich.
nux4lyfe
Don't let the door hit you on the way out Luongo
Scruffy05
We are not against the cap... would you still trade the goalie that made the playoffs for years? I say no pressure at all... we can play 1a/1b goalie for 9+m
CrippledCanuck
Well if the rest of our team takes a discount to play here, why is there an exception for Schneider to not take one?
Scruffy05
Ya, because Luongo has done nothing but horrible things for the team, give your head a shake.
The Kassassin Train
So you're fine with signing Cory to any deal just as long as he doesn't sign an offer sheet? Great idea...
Master Mind
He conceivably has taken a discount for what he could have gotten on the open market, he held the bargaining chips as well, he could have just waited til Luongo was shipped and used that leverage or just not signed a new contract at all
Tortorella's Rant
A steal for $4 million. It's very hard for anyone to argue Luongo over Schneider now. The only thing I'm worried about is that, despite his dominance, we've only seen a small sample of Schneider from time to time. He's never consistently played for weeks on end or even like, half a season, or even a full season for that matter.
Spoosh
What the hell is this cry about Schneider not taking a discount?! Jeez, the guy signed his first big payday deal in the NHL. Who would pass on the chance of getting serious money. All of you would! Discount deals might be made later on, maybe in three years. We signed a goalie that every team could use as a starter, and did it at a fair price considering the deals being made these days. btw, he is cheaper than Ballard with that deal! DownUndaCanuck
Canucks got ripped on this one, Schneider is no where near as good as Luongo but he's being paid almost the same amount. That's a lot of trust being put into an unproven kid in comparison to one of the league's best. I hope MG keeps both goalies and makes a decision next season when he has to, because right now with the cap roof increasing he can comfortably keep both goalies for 9 million. Master Mind
He signed a good deal that protects him from an offer sheet where he could have easily gotten 4.5 froma bother team. So yeah it was a great idea....actually beyond that for a...it doesnt take a Genius like yourself to figure this one out.
UFCanuck
I like this deal, watch Rask have an amazing year and demand over 5.5m next June. Three years is a good security blanket for both parties.

The Kassassin Train
We could have signed him for less and still protected him from offer sheets. And besides, offer sheets are almost non-existant now anyway.
Canucksbiggestfan
You're right, we are what we are still because of Luongo: a team that has never won the stanley cup.
Tortorella's Rant
Again where in the book it says that every player has to take a discount. What he got was fair value and allows the Canucks to set him up for a discount on his next contract when his current contract expires. It's not that a hard concept to grasp. Do you not remember when the Canucks had to pay Luongo for 27 million with NO playoff experience? Fair value at the time. Same thing with Schneider.
