[Discussion] Roberto Luongo Trade Thread 6.0

Recommended Posts

Well the Gillis interview highlights, from my perspective anyway:

Luongo:

- Acknowledged tonight, and spoke singular that an ALL STAR goalie is not something you deal quickly, which should indicate it's going to be Luongo

- Would not give Luongo an extension - jokingly (he has 10 yrs on his contract)

- Would only move him this season if he found a good package that improves the team

- Has had deals in place in the past, pretty close to finalization on one deal, when the partner tried to throw in a player/contract Gillis wasn't interested in (I'm thinking FLA here, with a Bergenheim or Upshall contract dump)

- Is perfectly comfortable with having both going into the playoffs, and acknowledges that having 2 starters gives us a better chance to win.

Manny Malhotra:

- Manny will not play another game in a Canuck uniform.

- compared his situation to that of drunk driving, had to take the 'keys' away

- Manny has not asked for a trade.

Misc.

- Liked Raymond at C

- Thought Sestito had a good showing

- Had a couple cracks about twitter, found it funny that media types argue with 12 y/o's.

why not just take the cap dump, we would save a ton of money anyway- Gillis is kinda standing in the way of improving our team if he has a deal he is happy with but will not take an additional player. He's a smart guy, he knows FLA is a soft market with a small budget...what gives??

Also...Ballard becomes an alternate captain but gets scratched??? Not the way to treat a guy- are we really going to scratch a 4.2 mill D man, and sit a 5.3mill goalie when we have no 2C, no 3C and could really use a Right shot D man???

That's 9.5 mill healthy and not playing tonight...piss poor management/coaching decisions

All those people blaming mg for not doing the kadri trade were the same ones against it during the summer ... the guy has a 20 good games and all of a sudden he's worth more than Roberto luongo??? Give ur head a shake... u don't trade a franchise goalie for a guy that has twenty good games.

Seriously give your head a shake. Next uup lets trade henrik sedin for Sam gagner and a third line player?

And then next up lets build a time machine and trade Jason king during his fifteen good games he had that one year for peter forsberg

I think Florida wins that deal.

Raymond + Barker > Trocheck

Luongo > Petrovic, Clemmensen, 2nd

Both are prospects are intriguing but we overpay, Barker could be added to throw in a depth guy, but keep Raymond, he has played great and has good value now, if we trade him it should be for something that addresses needs on the current roster. (Preferably in a package for an upgrade of some kind) but not for futures.

My counter:

- Goc

- Petrovic

- Matheson/Trocheck/Howden

- Upshall/Bergenheim

- 2nd

- 4th

- Luongo

- Ebbett

(Then throw in a few contacts from our side to even it out)
