cabinessence
Why are we constantly being told what not to do? How about something a little more positive? As we walk down streets and alleyways we see signs everywhere telling us not to do this or that? Is it any coincidence that society is full of so many negative thinkers? Are there any ways to promote positive reinforcemet. Sometimes instead of a no smoking sign there will be a sign that states, smoke free zone for eaxample. In these days of political correctness, I am surprised we still have signs with negatives in them.

Kumquats
Because "they" actually want you to do those things and putting a negative connotation on it actually makes it okay for them since our brains usually disregard words such as "don't" or "can't". Example; in a restaurant a waitress says, "don't touch that plate, it's hot." 9 times out of 10 someone will touch it because they miss the "don't". If she were to say, "be careful, the plate is hot." Odds are, you will not touch the plate.
Electro Rock
Blame it on the '60s/'70s generation that's in the driver's seat of society now, appearantly rebelling against anything and everything when they were younger gives them the right to create a very strict, heavily monitored world for everybody now.
