grandmaster
This is in Canucks talk because many of us were hoping to land this guy with potential trade proposals when the Caps were stinking it up. Some of you knocked OV as being done and a shadow of his former self, not worth a Kesler and an Edler with picks on top. I hope those who had the above opinion enjoy having the egg on your face. Now that OV is back as many of us assumed he would, that opportunity to get him has most likely passed. OV is a lock for the Hart. The Caps had no chance of making the playoffs without him and OV is now in the top 5 scoring race, where he belongs. Rant over.
Otis
Despite what you may have read from all of the insiders on here, there was never a chance of us getting Ovechkin..

Rey
I hope Ovechkin finds a way and wins the Art Ross somehow but... so what if he was criticized? He's being paid top dollar to be scoring goals, and he had a slow start. People want him to succeed because it makes hockey more entertaining. If St.Louis wins the Art Ross, no one will remember/care. Hockey fans want the Crosby vs Ovechkins story lines. There's nothing wrong with a little criticizing, and the players should expect it. Alex the Great
I think we all knew we were supposed to get him but decided not to cause we wanted to keep Raymond,Ballard and our first.
Drouin
What would our line-up be, if we got Ovie for Kes and Edler?
topbananas
I hear that the fact he was being underestimated on CDC is what turned his season around. He adopted the attitude of "I'll show them"

Primus099
I think we may have had a slight chance. The Caps were looking to miss out on the playoffs for and they looked miserable.

Twilight Sparkle
pretty sure gretz was traded in a different era without a salary cap. can't really make that statement nowadays without completely gutting your team, and you can't really 'circumvent' the cap system anymore. idk people still like to use the whole "you never know" thing, but that's why none of us are... actual authority figures within the league. Niloc009
Right, because CDC is the one who decides to make blockbuster trades for other team's captains. Trust me on this, Gillis didn't say no to getting Ovechkin because CDC doesn't like him. .
