-Vintage Canuck-
The team sale is likely to be announced at 11 a.m. ET: The New Jersey Devils announced that they’ll hold a “major news conference” at the Prudential Center on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET. One can basically take this as a confirmation that the team is being sold to Josh Harris and David Blitzer, a pairing who also own the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. (Blitzer’s involvement comes from the Bergen Record’s Tom Gulitti, who notes that current majority Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek will still hold a minority share in the team.) As you can read in this post, reports indicate that the sale – which also includes the operating rights to the Prudential Center – comes in at more than $320 million. Thursday’s press conference may or may not confirm that number. Either way, it appears virtually certain that the Devils’ ownership situation will be officially straightened out. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/14/devils-confirm-major-news-conference-for-thursday/

Nuxfanabroad
Also overheard they've agreed to cover Kovy's vodka & borscht for THE NEXT DECADE! Never liked the trapping Dev's; they helped create dead-puck airtime. Good luck to CS though-hope we get him back in a yr & a half(to help defend the cup!) Doc Emerick
I'll take a billionaire over a millionaire any day of the week. I liked JVB his heart was in the right place but he made one too many bad business decisions like using a reluctant business partner like Ray Chambers and Brick City. He was principal owner on paper but he lacked the funds to ever be a sole owner he never planned on that.

avelanch
Seattle would fall flat on its face. Market research has continuously proved that its just not hungry for hockey. Portland deserve higher consideration, the Winterhawks have a loyal following.

Spoosh
Why would they even consider moving the franchise? Not all deals are made so that a franchise can be moved...

The Bookie
Not sure why people are already discussing the team moving, the new owners are from Jersey and fans. Anyhow, it's nice to see the NHL pull something like this off smoothly for a change. I'm impressed.
