"buying out one Sedin is a slap to his face"

Being the worst number one forward in the history of this godforsaken franchise is a slap to everyone's face. All the crap years we've had as a team, we've always managed to have at least one forward with 50 points.

The Sedins will be the first ones to fail to achieve this. This is not an unreasonable expectation. They haven't even met that low bar.

They have made themselves buyout targets by their terrible play the last 4 months. If they are offended by that thought then they should have played better. Again, this isn't a recent problem, either. It was a problem with them last year that carried over to this year.

Gillis has options to move the Sedins for picks, and that includes buying one out and eating salary on the other. I would rather they ate salary to swing the deal for the pick, because they aren't going to be tight against the cap next year, and can use that money to sign productive players.

Give it a rest.

"Seriously"

Yeah. It's time. Look at the players that are outproducing them this year. Mason Raymond.

Mr. One million dollar man. 4 million is generous based on their performance and expected decline.

Canucks really need to get younger and healthier and give their young guys a shot at big minutes since they are no longer a playoff team.

dumbest post in this thread. The Sedins are not buying out. BTW, the Sedins have accomplished far more then the player in your signature.

Buying out the Sedins or mistreating them in any way is ridiculous but lets also call a spade a spade .

Injuries or no injures, they will have both played at least 65 games and neither of them are going to crack 50 points? That is just embarrassing and its not injuries or killing penalties.

Im not the biggest Sedin supporter anymore but what your writing is frankly insulting to 2 players that have given all they could for this team and this community.

I agree with you ..so what do you do?

Keep 2 players to honorary positions because they are moral community minded people..this isnt the way to run an organization..if they cant cut it anymore..the space needs to be taken by players who can..the NFL and NBA dont work that way..play or your gone..

I am not saying its right but is definatly going to be a problem in the future.

Nino, it's everyone's fault except the Sedins. If they fire Gillis and Torts and keep the Sedins, nothing will change. The Canucks will be unable to score, will struggle the whole year and settle down along with Calgary and Edmonton in the basement of the division.

"Your writing is frankly insulting"

It's true. Hank needs 5 in 5 just to tie a Sophomore Linden, and that's not even counting Reinhart's 57 that year, or Tanti's or Quinn's numbers.

You are simply not going to win games in the NHL when your number 1 and number 2 players fail to reach 50 points.

So, in others you are justifying the corrupt league? Getting fined shouldn't stop people from rightly calling out the POS league. It's the only way things will get better.

Ok for an indirectly related question...why do you think we chose not to retain Lappiere?

Every league in sports is an establishment that you do not rock the boat at to get into the party

Plus every team gets screwed over in one way or another its not unique just to the canucks

I agree. Its just worrisome ..and unless the kids step in soon the next 4 years look bleak.

It's a slap in the face because one is bought out while the other still has a contract. That makes zero sense. I was never their biggest fans but I respect what they have done.

What you don't understand is that it's near impossible to move them.

1. NTC, they aren't going to move. This has been their home. They love the city and they love it. They also do so much charity work. There is no way they will waive, especially to Buffalo...

2. Nobody is willing to pay $14 million for 2 players on decline. If you don't want them, what makes you think a GM would want them? They're not stupid. Even if we retain salary, few, few teams would be interested. And if we retain so much salary, what good would that do us? We still have to retain a bit of Lu's salary for the next million years. And even if the sedins cost $2 million, we aren't getting any decent draft picks. Especially not top 10 picks you're looking for.

Have some respect for these guys. They're not pawns. And all of the things you're proposing aren't realistic

Your right it was a bad season for them but they have shown at times they still have it they are just over worked and easy picking for the defensive system because we are a one line team and they are over worked. Get a new GM in add a second line and you will see the twins play better, quote me on that.

"NTC"

Everyone has family and family concerns. If the Sedins want to make that their number one priority, nothing is stopping them from hanging up their skates.

"14 million dollars"

Again, Gillis found a buyer for Luongo. He could do the same for the Sedins. There is always some GM who has a greater need than the Canucks for what the Sedins provide, at the right price. This would be a good time to move them before they decline further. What happens if the Canucks hang on to them and their production drops even further? Do the Canucks keep throwing them out on the first line? Do the Canucks drop them down and provide minutes to their younger players?

Everyone seems to think that they will bounce back. What if they don't? What then? Given their production this year shows a steady decline every year, it seems pretty obvious to me that this will continue. When is Gillis going to pull the plug? When they score 30 points next season?
