[PGT] Season's over

The Magician

Was at the game tonight, I noticed MG left after the first period and didn't came back. Guess he had better things to do.

They showed him in his 'sky box' late in the game so maybe he was 'flitting about'? .. (scary image)

Its sad to see what was once a feared team regress to this level.

This team is composed of a bunch of third liners. Plus a handful of guys that did not live up to expectation.

Who is to blame? I think the coach, GM, and players all have to take their share of the blame.

Torts' system is not ideal for this team. There is a reason why there were so many injuries to all the prominent players on this team. You cant ride guys for 25 minutes a night, in a compressed schedule, playing against big western conference teams, and with all the travel.

V knew how to treat the Sedins. They would get offensive starts and they didnt kill penalties. Their game is based on keeping possession on the boards and this takes up huge energy compared to star players like Vanek or Hossa who can float and rush the puck all night and dont take anywhere near the beating the Sedins do. V also rolled 4 lines. This was ideal for the Sedins.

Gillis failed to get any secondary scoring- this was a problem since the 2011 scf.

The D is not tough enough, and there is nobody that can play the point at a high level.

"Gone where?"

Whomever will take them. Gillis should pull a Burke and dump their contracts for picks this year to move up. It's time. They will have a reasonably high pick this year, so Gillis can climb a bunch of spots. Think Buffalo wouldn't consider both Sedins for their number 1?

How many beers did you have last night?

Tortorella deserves another year to right the ship.

He can't be blamed for the mess he was given by that idiot Gillis.

If anyone should be shown the door, it's that red faced orangutan.

Maybe he does, but I hope he doesn't get it.

If he does remain, it becomes another year of this team being about the coach. It was about the coach in Tampa, it was about the coach in NY and it's been about the coach this year in Van. The drama that is Torts has not only drained this team physically, but also mentally I think.

This team cannot move forward until it's about the team and only about the team. This team needs a calm, composed and confident coach who can steer it through the next 3 seasons of transition while not grinding our young kids into the ground.

Henrik is still a great playmaker. Daniel sucks nonkey muts.

One thing MG has never gotten through his thick skull. The Sedins are great but if you want a pay a guy $7m per year as a first line center that can't score (Henrik) you'd better alott the funds correctly and have a super high powered offence and a lot of extra weight there (goal scoring) ... not overpaying your horrific defence that sucks in both ends anyway.

If the team is drained mentally because of Torts, they need to hang up the skates.

Henrik himself endorsed Tortorella. You know, the captain?

This mess is the fault of the architect, not the foreman.

The guy who has been tasked with assembling the team, has given away two starting goalies and left the team with rookie goaltenders. They have loads of potential, but the lack of experience combined with the pressure of the market may do irreparable damage to their psyche.

Not even Scotty Bowman could make this team a contender the way Gillis has "built" it.

One good thing about the game against the Rangers is the success of AV this season....I was an AV supporter here, but did think it was time for a change of scenery after we got toasted by SJ in the first round....You can only laugh at the CDC experts who thought he couldn't coach.

Come on man Daniel is still a decent player, he's just not worth the 7 million anymore which is why people resent him. He did have a nice assist on Kesler's goal last game though.
