Have to say this is intense and scary now but glad cuba responds when US asks for helps in the war on ebola now. Some one put it on facebook and i have to say was suprised that cuba actualy did something so thought to share here

Believe It Or Not, Cuba Is Providing The Most Aid For Ebola Of Any Country

The US has sent hundreds of military personnel to combat the Ebola virus, but when it comes to actual healthcare workers, its Cuba that has delivered the most help.

Over 160 Cuban doctors and nurses touched down in Sierra Leone last Thursday, the Washington Post reports, the largest medical team from a single country to arrive in West Africa since the outbreak began last March.

An additional 296 Cuban healthcare workers will be sent to Liberia and Guinea after undergoing training to become more familiar with the virus, which has killed at least 3,300 people.

CNN takes you inside the training process with this video, featuring a brave group of volunteers who appear almost completely unfazed by the dangers of their mission.

Why would you be surprised?

Cuba has always been a large humanitarian (among other things) aide to Africa and other 3rd world countries.

They aren't isolationist. They're forced to be against their will.

I dont mean to sound ignorant but what have they done for good before this cause ive never heard of it? And im not just been rude i really dont know more then there atacks and killings to south africa and a nother coutry down there

Cuba is of those countries that may help aboard more than others, but what has it done lately for its citizens?

Aside from the revolution, are Cubans living a better life?

The government controls everything from who may leave or enter the country all the way to the extremely low salaries...

Lets not deviate from the fact it is a Socialist Dictatorship disguised as a humanitarian group...

Even if there are elections as they claim to be a Socialist democracy the Castro family are in charge.

I am sure China could do the exact same thing if it changed its foreign policy, but would they be seen as any better?

IMO another revolution needs to take place in Cuba..

Really?

How about North Korea?

Or China, for that matter?

I only used China as an example because they have similar political systems.

Obviously change needs to be taken in NK and China before Cuba, but what I was trying explain is lets not get brainwashed be some PR move by Cuba... I don't doubt they have good intentions for this move, but something seems odd considering how poor and backwards Cuba is.

IMO some of those personnel should first be used on the local population before expanding to others locations.

I am surprised that other countries haven't stepped up to provide aid and assistance... Do they think they're immune or something?

Yeah i cant imagine cuba has many doctors so they should stay there to help people who need it there instead of to go to africa for PR for USA to try to proove they are a good country now

Not true at all. There is about 6.7 physicians per 1000 in Cuba, whereas in Canada it's around 2.2 and in the USA 2.6. Cuban physicians work abroad for various reasons. Apparently there are over 30k in Venezuela - part of an agreement to obtain favourable oil imports.
