There's no way Matthews is worth that much.

K maybe not, but as Alf said Arizona might be willing to overpay to get the next phenom who is their own hometown kid. Imagine the marketing and sales for that franchise.

 

To be more fair, maybe something like this?

 

ARI: 1st overall pick (Matthews), Hutton, and a 3rd (The Jim Benning special)

VAN: OEL, Domi, and their top 10 pick.

 

Then hopefully trade up to select Dubois cuz he can be that big, top line scoring centre too.

Arizona isn't trading OEL. They stated so earlier.

Defencemen we pick up with second and third round picks.  I agree.  Except our genius GM traded away all those picks for average 22-27 year old players.

It's a losing battle, people are just ignoring that. They will say the Yotes GM is just sand bagging.

Only way we pass on Matthews is if we trade that pick for the 2nd and 3rd overall. And we all know we have a better chance of winning a cup this year than that. Lol. Hell I have my pessimistic doubts we even win 1st overall pick to begin with.
