He is very likely to be moved out of RL Carolina so get him now before we hike up the price when he goes to a contender . Well, after @Tigs unintentionally ruined Ottawa’s plan for a big splash in the draft, we decided we needed to move up A few spots to ensure getting another draft target. Getting two birds stoned at once, we acquired a young nhl center who’s in line to have a rebound year now that Bill Peters is gone from Carolina. (Sorry flames fans). Rask will be replacing... To ARZ: Ryan Spooner To OTT: Erik Brannstrom Tough to lose Spooner but we love the potential of Brannstrom. In the end, we feel like we ended up with the better D prospect and the better center. Can’t not like that. With Sherbak's breakout in the AHL and Montreal obviously going to be better next year, we thought we'd swap the Nikita's and Colorado was nice enough to through in retained Anze, retained Nick and a first. All kidding aside, this was a painfully tough decision and Chicago explored many different paths on how to handle Kucherov (probably our favorite player and the second person we selected in the inaugural Puck draft) and his pending contract. Definitely debate-worthy and I'm looking forward to the comments from those that either missed out or see this as a crazy move - bottom line is this GM isn't capable of building a team that we hope to win (it all next time ) when one or two players are making a 6th of the cap. We wish Nikita Kucherov only the best with his new, excellent Avalanche team and welcome Anze, Nick, Nikita and a pretty-high draft pick this year to ours.
