Quick damn near stole that game for the Kings. It must be demoralizing for them to lose that one. But as they say, you’re not in trouble until you lose one at home.

That is the misconception, they were not "cast offs".   That was my error in evaluating them too early on but when you look at those draft rules they had, they were going to get a middle ground team.   What has been exceptional for them as four or five of the players are having career years as later bloomers - not common but it happens.  It also cements Gallant as a brilliant coach who is also know as a "player's coach" versus an analytics/hard azz type and so perhaps some of those vets felt "freed up" to really play their games.

 

Fun team to watch.   Will need to retool quite quickly given all the UFAs and pending contract impasses etc. so good to see them push hard on their first window.
