Popular Post Kurisu
Pictured: Pierre-Edouard Bellemare warming up for his final game as a Flyer FLY ER DIE: MIGHT SOME MINOR MOVES The Flyers haven't waited long to make adjustments, making a couple of one-for-one swaps this evening. The first trade saw Mark Streit traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Dennis Wideman, the second trade these teams have completed already this season. Next, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare was exiled to Vancouver in exchange for clutch veteran Alexandre Burrows. Mark Streit had 3 goals and 6 assists in 13 games for the Flyers this season. Dennis Wideman has not fared as well, with 1 goal and 3 assists in 14 games. This trade appears to be all about balancing the defence, as the right-shooting Wideman will be a more natural fit on the third pairing with left-shot Clayton Stoner. Streit will surely be missed in the locker room, especially by his Alps brother Michael Raffl. After 13 games, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare had the worst plus-minus on the Flyers. Along with his linemates Dale Weise and Boyd Gordon, the 4th line of Philly was failing to get going, with the trio combining for -17 and only 7 points. Burrows comes in with 5 points and 13 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks. The move was likely made with the goal of boosting the middling penalty kill and helping the 4th line put up a few more points. Burrows surely won't mind a pure checking role at this stage of his career, and will be absolutely thrilled to be reunited with fellow ex-Canuck Dale Weise. Surprisingly, the Flyers sit in the second wild card spot, with a record of 7-4-2. Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, and Sean Couturier currently lead the team in scoring.
