Oilers' Oscar Klefbom: Could miss another season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Klefbom (shoulder) has a "very slim chance" at playing during the 2021-22 season, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Klefbom already missed the entire 2020-21 campaign with a shoulder injury that wasn't surgically repaired until late March. He tallied 34 points in 62 games during the 2019-20 season while averaging over 25 minutes of ice time. Edmonton's acquisition of Duncan Keith would lessen the blow of the 27-year-old being absent for another year.

Kasimir Kaskisuo

27-year-old Kasimir Kaskisuo originally comes from Vantaa just north of Helsinki where he began his hockey career at the capital club Jokerit, which he came to represent up to J20 level. After his junior years at home in Finland, his career continued with games in the Minnesota Wilderness in the NAHL and the University of Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA between the years 2013-2016. In the spring of 2016, Kaskisuo was contracted by the NHL organization Toronto Maple Leafs and the following season, 2016/2017, games in the AHL were alternated with the Toronto Marlies with ECHL games in the Orlando Solar Bears. The following season, Kaskisuo was loaned out to the Chicaco Wolves where he seriously made his way into the AHL.

In the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons, Kaskisuo was back in the Toronto Marlies where he got more and more playing time with good results, which attracted interest from the Nashville Predators, who contracted the Finnish goalkeeper in October 2020. However, under the circumstances of the corona pandemic, last season, which meant that Kaskisuo only played one game during the winter, this with the Nashville Predators in the NHL.

The newly signed contract with Kasimir Kaskisuo is valid over the next two seasons, up to and including the 2022/2023 season.

The Vancouver Canucks are happy to report our prospects results at the World Junior Summer Showcase are even better than expected. The Finns outscored their US and Swedish counterparts 26 to 19 all together and about a third of those goals were put in my our dudes. Can't complain about that at all. Finland won 5 games with just one loss in OT vs USA WHITE (four teams competed: Sweden, Finland and USA WHITE along with USA BLUE and it would seem the US teams didn't play against each other at all)

18 year old Center, Aatu Raty: 6 goals 8 assists for 14 points in 6 games played and +8 over the tourney!

19 year old Defender, Topi Niemela: 2 goals 4 assists for 6 points in 6 games and +10 over the tourney!

18 year old Right Winger, Samu Tuomaala: 1 goal 1 assist for 2 points in 6 games and +2 over the tourney.

18 year old Defender, Ville Ottavainen: held off the scoresheet entirely with no penalties and no points but fulfilling his role beautifully going +2 over the event.

We took two or three approaches;

Volume selections on D

Gambled on players with scouting reports speaking to skill & athleticism, underrepresented # games due to Covid

U18 performances in later rounds

Some players with high floor (Kirsanov), some with a high ceiling (Kisakov) and some % bets. Pretty nervous about Mailloux!

^ it is fantasy hockey and you didn't take him in the first round: no worries on you mate. its the real life first round thing that is the issue for a lot of people.

I like that the guy won't be in camp and the Habs will make him accountable for the year he is missing is going to include character building, from what I have read. You maybe made a good pick for fantasy hockey.
