I think Tavares is already on the downside of his Career. While Mathews and Marner are a really great tandem the next guy on the depth chart is that flamingo shot blocker Nylander. They are destined to be first round knockouts yet again.

You could be right.   That said they have to earn it the hard way if they want to make it to the final.   The East is still the Beast.    Their first round is like some of the second round teams playing in our conference.    It's just great!

Ummm...except they drafted the wrong guy.   Dionne has said - and possibly rightly so, that he'd have 1000 NHL goals if he played for the Habs instead.   Guy scored liked 400 more points or something like that on mostly crappy teams.   Met them both five years or so after they retired on an old timers game.   Dionne looked like he could still play in the league, skated circles around the other "old timers" and scored five goals ...Lafluer was who everyone came to see though including me.   Lafleur special talent was lighting bottle rockets at one point and skating really fast in a straight line for the fans.   Dionne was the better player but buried in LA until the 80's more or less ... That said Lafluer was a special special player too.   But bet Dionne would of had all the same hardware instead.  And some.

The "Little Beaver"(yeah kids, that's what they dubbed Dionne) wasn't 70% the player The Flower was. The Kings were brutal, but always had 5 or 6 offensive types, & usually a talented, acrobatic (& mighty overworked) 'tender. They would load one line, & Dionne feasted for pts in the watered-down Smythe Div, with all the ice time one could humanly endure.

Can't agree here, IB. I'd expect it might even resemble Pierre Larouche's Hab-experience, if Dionne had ever been given a ticket to Mtl. One-way sniper who lit it up on lousy Pen teams(similar to Kings); yet on the late 70's Habs, he was almost an afterthought. From 1976-80, Guy was The Star of the league, with Trots & Boss a close 2nd.

Man hockey was GREAT back then!

STILL hear JB being dissed in that evil HF-zone. Well, he did indeed sign 2 more ultra-key, young, uber-talents(that he, himself DRAFTed to begin with) to very fair deals.

The alleged(constructed?) hatred is so irrational & outdated over there. Now they chant it like some Hogtown, zombie-mantra.

It's funny because the Canucks have won more playoff rounds in the last 2 years than the Laffs have won in almost 20.  Imagine making fun of a team that has gotten closer to the cup than you.
