The ‘trifecta of incompetent officiating’ in the NHL has been O’Halloran, Sutherland & O’Rourke. 
 

It used to be the ‘villainous Quad’ until Devorski (the referee/not the linesman) retired a year or so back. 
 

These guys are all in for old school methods & drama, like turning blind eyes away or putting away whistles…unless it suits them or their particular agenda of carry-over justice. It’s been very pleasing to NHL BOG President Jeremy Jacobs & his voting block of cronies, who want nothing more than traditional hockey offerings in their buildings - like “vigilante justice” & on/ice violence, which sells best & is much easier for crooked refs to misinterpret. 
 

^These dudes seem to be banking on post career jobs with the league’s head office, as future ‘Heads of Officiating’ or something, and possibly greasing the skids with the strongest power-brokers to make it so.
