I just watched the fight in slow motion numerous times to see if I'm mistaken. For the first two seconds MacEwan is holding onto Kassian's ear loop on his helmet and fiddling with the chin strap. Kassian throws two punches in that time and how many does MacEwan throw? Zero. MacEwan throws his first punch and at the same time the helmet is ripped off. MacEwans punch doesn't even connect, so no, the punch is not what made the helmet come off.

 

I don't understand what the big deal is in admitting MacEwan purposely took off the helmet? Fighters do it all the time in the NHL. They try to take off the helmet to do more damage. 

 

whatever, I don't actually care either way. Just glad Kass is OK.
