TO Det - Brock Boeser 

 

Both players could use a fresh start. Boeser is getting a lot more points than Zadina but has a higher salary. So we save money off the salary cap and get a new RW to try out.

Honestly one of the more interesting ideas I’ve seen, I’m just not sure Detroit would be willing to take on an extra $4,775,000 in cap space.

I actually thought Zadina would be worth too much for a trade like this. 

 

But honestly he is 23 now and will be 24 next season and is still struggling a lot. I think Boeser is the clearly better player here both at Zadina's age and currently. Main negative on Brock is his contract. 

 

I think I may pass on this for Van unless Detroit added something (nothing big but perhaps a 2nd or 3rd). It might be easier to just move Garland or Beau and stick with Boeser cause based on his end of season play, there may be some hope for him to bounce back into a solid top 6 winger.

Not a bad idea, if I was Detroit I'd give up on him. Boeser is worth a fair bit more than Zadina though, I get the cap space is an issue but Zadina is a real project and I can't imagine himself improving all of a sudden.

 

I suppose with the cap space we sign Graves or Gavrikov and the deal looks pretty good but honestly I'd rather stick it with Boeser for one more year, because if he ends up dropping 30G we'll really regret it and I doubt this management is going to go after a UFA defenceman.

 

I'd do Garland for Zadina in a heart-beat though and I think Stevie Y would consider this too.

Garland for Zadina is a good idea. We get heavier and faster and clear 3 mil off the cap.

Why do you think Zadina is worth more than either of those two players?

Those Pro totals aren't much to be impressed by. He is producing at a very low rate and is going to be 24 next season.

I dunno what metrics you are comparing these two players by (you can include Garland in this), but outside of cap hit (and Boeser only has 2 more years anyway) for you to say Detroit hangs up is just silly in my opinion. 

 

Not saying they would completely jump at the deal, but no chance there isn't different types of value going back both ways.

Cap hit, age, potential, draft position. All that shit matters.

Like I said in my last comment, there is reason Boeser is still on the team, nobody wants him even as a free cap dump.

Detroit isn't going to be giving up on 6th overall pick basically 2 years into his career. 2/3 seasons were cut short. (only 30 games this past year)

Some players take time to develop, they aren't going to be giving him away for a couple overpaid, underperforming wingers.
