Which shows that advanced stats are a terrible way to evaluate players instead of just watching them.

Actually Montembeault ranked about 10th among goalies with 40+ games played. Hart was 12th

Because Hart's team completely hung him out to dry.

Goals saved above expected factors in shot quality.  And it’s not like Montreal dressed an all star defence in front of Montembeault

The eye test tells a different story.  This is exactly why teams shouldn't trust advanced stats and should evaluate players properly with scouting.

Montembeault looked really good in the second half this year.  And just led Canada to gold.  I suspect you have a skewed opinion of him.

He's decent, but I still think Hart is better given the game quality of play in front of him.

Colorado, Tampa just won Cups going full analytics.  Florida and Vegas are also built off analytics.

Teams use tracking technology and have a much better grasp of context than what public models can offer.   McPhee even says public models are pretty useless.  Maurice (in Winnipeg) confirmed that public models don't align with their findings.

No one is saying Montembeault is garbage, he's just not as good as Hart, and that's ok.

And all I’m saying is Hart isn’t a big enough upgrade to give up valuable assets for.  Apparently Montreal brass agrees

NHL Advanced stats>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Random basic Internet analytics. There is a vast difference between what teams use and garbage like DAWG or Random Blogger analytics.

That's fair, and is more a means of categorizing actual scouting, but when people keep throwing up trash like Jfresh and expect people to actually take it seriously, that's going too far.  Shot location is meaningless without knowing how the puck got there.  Hell of a lot easier for the goalie to stop a shot where it's been carried to that spot compared to a cross crease pass and he's not squared up.

Some rumors kicking around that C Hart is implicated in the World Juniors scandal. Pure speculation, but will still hurt his trade value to some extent.

Luckily the Habs fired Bergevin or he'd be all in now

Only 8 players from the team never made a statement regarding the incident.  Hart was one of the first to make a statement condemning the incident abd he fully cooperated with the investigation. So I doubt he was one of the players involved
