He's been an absolute stud for Minnesota. Say what? Boldly just had a very good season, but Cozens equalled him in goals (31), tallied more assists, plays center, and can also PK. How is Boldy ahead of Cozens in a redraft let alone with such certainty?

rekker
I'm old school and I just don't like this kids style. I remember Shremp and Zegras is way better at hockey, but I really don't care for the circus stuff.

Some "arithmetic" genuis (Dubas!), and other stat geeks, noticed something GMs knew for decades. And thought "hey why are we paying these guys for what they likely can't later, and instead paying them for what they likely will". When kids primes started and when to expect the best seasons. The thing that their "arithmetic" doesn't factor in, is where is the carrot? If you give everyone with a season or two of somewhat or proven potential, they for sure won't all work out. When your see a bridge these days, on a young skilled player, from a team that's got the cap space, you can almost gaurantee there is some sort of red flags showing up outside of the rink or behind the scenes. Even WHEN the carrot existed, you'd see players all the time have a career year early and then that's it, during what now is considered a bridge. IMO, RFA deals and UFA deals can't be treated the same. Now it's a lot more for RFA and still an expected legacy deal on the other end. And the strange thing is fans have bought into it hook line and sinker. Like we are getting some sort of "amazing deal" for QHs or something. It's what he should be doing for an RFA deal. Nothing more or less. EP too. 8 years is a long time, to be giving for anyone but franchise players and or generational ones. Now they are even coming out with support players at long term deals. At least not all GMs are willing to do this. Yet. Players hate escrow which piles up with buyouts. When RFA deals start getting bought out too, im expecting an "ah - ha " moment.
