[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
.Naslund replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Funny how there was like a 800 page JT miller trade thread and nothing came of it as well. Waste of time until Petey asks out -
IF he gets a career ending injury during this contract then yes he gave up about 5 years at 12 million a year which is roughly 60 million dollars. After taxes that’s about 31 million dollars. Of the 52 that you’re saying he’s made, he’s lost about 50% of it to taxes as well. Google Demarcus Cousins, Dennis Schroeder and victor oladipo in the NBA. These guys turned down HUGE guaranteed money contracts, ended up getting injured or not performing to expectations. Matthews value is roughly 11.5-12.5 million. The 1-2 extra million dollars the Laffs would get for signing him to a longer term contract isn’t enough to sign a game changing piece for the Laffs.

Money and flexibility. When you reach the top of your career why not? He’ll make money and then if things go south he can dip and go to a new team/destination. He’s also putting a lot on the line too. If he has a series of serious injuries or a career threatening one, he’s not getting the big value contract in 4 years.

Fair enough. I think what I was trying to say was the type of winger benson projects to be is a dime a dozen. If someone believes Benson has the potential to be a 100 point winger (which I do not) then he’d be the right pick. I’d we take the conservative look at Willander being a top 4RHD and Benson a top 6 winger, Willander is more valuable. our franchise always seems to find wingers and forwards with little problem. It’s defencemen that we have issues with. We very rarely ever select defencemen in the first round as well.

Wingers are a dime a dozen in this league. Im glad we picked Willander

[GDT] ‘Tis the Dog Days of Summer, Are we Thinging Before Training Camp?
.Naslund replied to AngryElf's topic in Canucks Talk
I swear half of the users on here have Tourette’s or short term memory loss. “Trade mIller, trade miller blah blah blah trade miller!!!” Lol. It’s been very strongly insinuated that we’re building around Hughes and Petey. -
Shane doan also lived in Arizona which is one of the most desirable places to live in the USA. You’re kind of proving his point with your comment. Not only that, but you sound entitled and seem to be viewing people as possessions of their organization. You’re essentially saying the higher ups/managers can be as incompetent as possible but the players should just “suck it up” because they signed a contract and they belong to the team now.

So each aforementioned Flame is headed into the last year of their contracts, which they are going to fulfill. What’s your point? If I want to quit my job I’m supposed to give two weeks notice. These guys are giving about a year’s notice that they won’t resign at the end of their current contracts. They don’t face similar things as us because they’re some of the BEST IN THE WORLD AT WHAT THEY DO. They’ve earned the right to control their destinies. There’s ways to do it though. Giving the team a large heads up in advance is professional. Doing it the PLD way is a bit different

Screw the “game”. Players are human beings in the prime of their lives. If they want out of a place they don’t enjoy living in, let them. It’s their lives. Literally every second that passes is one less second that they’re alive. Why waste it when they have an opportunity to improve their situations?

I’m not going to sit here and slander Vegas. Congrats to them I guess. I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and remember the area by the arena being way more happening than anytime I’ve been here in Vancouver. There are definitely many “real” Vegas fans there. Also, when Vegas picked their expansion team, no one here was going “that’s a championship core”. They’ve been smart.

This is l exactly what happened to me as well. I heard “London Knights”, got extremely excited and then very disappointed -

I know you like to shake the boat and be controversial on here but a 25 year old (that’s how old he’ll be in two weeks) who’s demanded two trades, has a career high of 63 points, has shown to quit on a team and is demanding 9 million dollars a year is definitely not a headcase you want on the team. Sometimes less is more. Addition by subtraction. He’s like the 5th best player on that team and hes acting like he’s a superstar LOOOL. Imagine if Boeser acted like him. -

I remember being disappointed in 2016 when CBJ reached and took PLD because I really wanted him. The way his career has panned out, I’m glad we dodged that bullet. Would still rather have him than Juolevi though haha. -
Would he really though? Bo Horvat was definitely not playing like a top 6 forward since the trade.

Another Miller thread I see. Anyways, I'm not a fan of PLD, he seems to have whined his way through his career so far. I'm surprised he's not more hated around the NHL. I hope he reaches UFA and then Montreal decides to not negotiate with him LOL
