  1. Yeah give it a rest. No way Horvat is worth 8 million plus. People who harp on Miller for cashing in on a career year blindly choose to ignore the fact that Horvat is also having a career year
  2. Who’s paying 8.3m for a 3c? Horvat isn’t even worth the Miller deal LOL
  3. Yeah apparently he’s donated more than 100 million dollars in his career. I just wish GMs would take it easier when evaluating their young players in the NHL. A prospect literally has accomplished nothing in the NHL and a slim portion of them actually hit their assumed potential. Like sure Brandt Clarke is really good but he has just as much chance as being a Marc Andre Bergeron as he does an Erik Karlsson. Same with Quinton Byfield. I wonder how many deals were held up because teams didn’t want to part with the Puljarvis, Yakupovs, Stromes etc
  4. LOL. The Decision did raise more than 2 million dollars for the boys and girls club though. A lot more useful than some hockey players going to the hospital and taking pictures with some kids.
  5. The difference between the NBA and NHL is crazy when it comes to trades haha.
  6. Yes that’s the whole point. He’s a complimentary player having an outlier season. There is tremendous amount of risk involved with a deal this long and with that high of a cap hit. And the intangibles that people say he possessed were just because he was Captain. His play on the ice never came across as “captain”. It was just a letter on his jersey.
  7. Why are you here then if the forum is ridiculous? As proven in the Horvat resigns in NYI thread which you were quite vocal in, there were some statistics which you also were off on when comparing him to Miller.
  8. If anything Horvat finally showed up in his contract year, led us to one playoffs, and then moped when we didn’t make him the highest paid player on the team, despite being at the most the 4th best player on this team. He thought “I’m the cApTAIn THoUgH I shud get MOst moniez” and was promptly shipped out because he was Captain Tank Commander throughout his years here. But he’s a nice guuuuy boo hoo. These are the facts. Take of your Canucks coloured rose glasses and look at our team throughout Horvats tenure from the LA Kings perspective. Y’all are acting like Horvat is McDavid.
  9. So how is Horvat worth 8.5 given he also is having an outlier season? Should he not be valued as a 50-60 point player then?
  10. How is he not? He scored 99 points, so he should get paid like a 99 point player no? Isn’t that what you’re arguing? If Horvat repeats last season’s production he gets no where near 8.5 million. You know it. If he has a 60 point season is he signing for 8.5? He got 8.5 because he’s having a near 40 goal season right?
  11. Lucky for us we have Dazzle the economics and business wizard to educate us Canucks fans.
  12. That’s why Miller signed for 8 million. Had he signed at a 100 point price point, that contract would be closer to or over 10 million dollars. 4 seasons of PPG production is worth more than half of a season of on pace for 40+ goals like Horvat. Hasn’t Brock Boeser been on pace to score 30+ goals for how many seasons now? How’s that situation working for us? Horvat could get injured tomorrow and end his season with 50 points, is he then a 4 million dollar player?
  13. I’m pretty sure people here know how negotiations work buddy. What the overwhelming majority are saying is that they wouldn’t have paid Horvat 8.5 per. Of course there was one numbskull aka Lou Lamoriello who gave it to him and that’s fine. Even he believes he overpaid as evidenced by his comments after.
  14. Your 78 points in 65 games argument goes totally against your argument because you are then assuming that Bo Horvat is capable of producing at a 98.4 point pace season to catch JT Miller’s career stats when in the next 65 games. Not only that, to justify his contract of 8.5 per he’d actually have to EXCEED those 78 points and surpass JT Miller, which is something Horvat has never shown he’s capable of doing. Furthermore, being a consistent 50-60 point player throughout your career SHOULD NOT net you a bigger contract than a player who has broken out and shown consistent elite offensive production over multiple seasons. People like to harp on Millers giveaways but they are a nature of the game when you’re a playmaker and a player trying to produce offence (aka Miller). You are going to have less giveaways and whatnot if your job is to win a faceoff and stand in front of the net looking for tip ins (aka Horvat). There’s a lot of terrible contracts in the NHL and this may be one of them. You arguing for Horvat being worth similar or more than Miller is like saying we should have unloaded the bank for Anson Carter after his “breakout” season with the Sedins and then comparing Carter to Markus Naslund after his 104 point season
  15. Maybe he progresses or follows a path similar to Roope Hintz. Similar draft area (Hintz was 49th), similar size. If he reaches Hintz level that’d be a huge win for us.
  16. It was recently reported that the Canucks offered something like 7.25-7.5 for him. The news broke out after the trade. That’s a very fair number for Bo. Kadri had a career year last year with similar stats to Horvat throughout his career and got 7 from the Flames. Ultimately if Bo wanted to be a Canuck he would have signed…and he didn’t. He was trying to play his hand and get paid handsomely. Other than this year he hasn’t progressed too much from the day he signed his 5 year 33 million dollar contract and now that he has had HALF OF A SEASON at a PPG pace, we are all up in arms that he didn’t get Miller money or more? Also Horvat was our captain. What benefit is he going to get from dragging us through the mud post trade. Of course he thought he was going to be a Canuck for life. It’s called saying the right thing and avoiding controversy. Deep down he may have just wanted to leave, just because someone says something, it doesn’t mean it’s true. We’re all old enough to know this. PS: the guy slamming Raty for enjoying the spa should use the correct words if he’s going to slander someone. It’s “powderpuff”, not powderpuff. Spa/sauna culture is huge in Eastern Europe. Go tell all those absolute manly men that they’re powerpuffs. No place for those comments here.
  17. Decent contract but not really a player to get excited about or someone who will push the needle per se.
  18. JT miller has essentially been a PPG player for as long as he’s been a Canuck. If they paid him to the level everyone is making it out to be JT would be on a 9.5-10million dollar contract. We paid him 8, which is good for a PPG guy. This is Horvats first PPG season and he’s started to slow down already minus the four assist game vs the worst team in the NHL (CBJ) mid seven for Horvat is definitely paying him for a career year and was a fair offer. He’s a mid to high six million a year player.
  19. Exactly. And we could even flip him at next years TDL if needed. He’s only got one year left after this season.
  20. No player is traded for equal value in the NHL. This is something this board needs to recognize and be prepared for. We’re not trading a rental for other team’s top prospects. That’s the bottom line. We need to temper our expectations. This isn’t the NBA. Claude Giroux was an offensive dynamo starving to win with a track record far superior to Horvat. If we get similar value to him that’d be great. People are expecting a return greater than DeBrincat
  21. What PPG in the NHL would sign for 7 million currently? If he was a UFA he’d pull 8.5-9 for sure. We signed him for 8 which is decent. Any sensible person can also see that Bo is having an outlier season as well in a UFA year. Horvat at this point is OVERRATED. He’s also a pending UFA performing way outside of his norm in what appears to be an outlier season and is looking to cash in. Kasper is cheap and has 7 years of team control due to being an RFA. So cheap cost controlled, team controlled high potential asset or an over performing expensive possible half season rental
  22. Love the overreactions in here. The guy is no different than Jaysun Megna. May even be worst
  23. So you’d like some Patrick Whites, Nicklas Jensens, and Brendan Gaunces for Bo Horvat? 1st round draft picks in the 25-31 range? Wait 5 years for them to fizzle out?
