I have to admit that I never really believed that the Canucks would let Price slip away on August 15th. I was convinced that they were just leaving things to the last minute (because of other more pressing business) but that they'd get something done at the 11th hour.

It also strikes me as odd that they seem to have given-up on a solid defenseman prospect, especially after they re-signed Sauve for another year. This isn't to say that Sauve's worse than Price (or vice versa). Personally, I still like the set of tools Sauve brings and I'm glad he's getting another year to prove himself. I just think that Price was deserving of a similar opportunity.
...

That was my thought as well. What I'm wondering now is if they were looking at getting him on an AHL only contract and he wanted to try for something with a chance at the NHL. It doesn't mean he couldn't come back to our system, but it's probably not as likely that he will since he could get more opportunity even in the AHL on another team.

Soon enough I guess, but I think it could probably stay open until camp starts.

We still have room more one more contract I think...I think we could sign him but maybe Gillis just wants 1 extra spot incase of emergency but I think Price deserves to be signed. He is a RD and an offensive defensemen, could Utica even try to sign him? I think this kid as NHL potential.

The Vancouver Canucks made the right choice on not offering him a professional contract with the team. Although he is considered an offensive defencemen, he will never see the light of day in the NHL. He is a career tier 2- tier 3 professional hockey player. His struggles in the ECHL pretty much proved that the Canucks did the right thing by not signing him. 2009 nhl ENTRY draft is looking very very bad for us right now.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

Yeah, we've got to get away from signing unsuccessful picks that didn't develop. Not signing Price shows we're moving in the right direction.
