Butters Stoch
It was a careless hit but I don't think it warrants 25 games unless it was premeditated and clear intent. I guarantee it would've been around 5 games if this was the first suspension of the playoffs. Shanahans just fed up with dealing with these suspensions and Torres happened to one at the worst time possible.

Mike Vanderhoek
So how do you know about Wings night at the Lighthouse? I suspect your spying on me. (but I sorta like it)
Tearloch7
Can we really compare the two though? I really dont get why people want to compare two completely different situations with each other. Torres has a history of exactly this, he seriously injured Hossa and he had been warned multiple times that. Torres is not just a repeat offender, he is a repeat x5 offender. Mustapha
You do realize there is no conspiracy or manipulation right ? Wow, there is no manipulation of reffing or suspensions lol.
7thMan
Keith's hit on Sedin was worse and he only got 5 games. I don't understand Shanahan.
drdeath
Let's really put it in perspective and say that Mcsorley initially got 23 games (the remainder of that season) and then afterwards it was extended to be one full year. Hell the NHL suspension even managed to stop him from playing in other leagues during his suspension. Essentially Mcsorley was given far more than 25 games for his assault on Brashear; he got 82. KING ALBERTS
thats ridiculous... smashing someones face into the glass is $2500, but that hit (on the puck carrier) is 25 games? absolutely ridiculous.. shanahan is a joke, if it was bolland who threw that hit i'd say 8 games max. Smashian Kassian
Maybe they gave him 25 games to make up for the games they were supposed to give Keith and Weber. But seriously, it seems like suspensions are being handed out based on who you are and how badly the guy is injured, not what you did. This league is still a joke. EmployeeoftheMonth
Same thing happened to Bertuzzi. They refused to reinstate him during the lockout which kept him out of other leagues for about a calendar year.
German_Canucks_Supporter
Instead of Shanahan, they should just install a giant wheel of fortune with a few "no suspension" or "$2,500 fine" sections on it and different amounts of games suspended. This is just an embarrassment. The hit may have warranted 5 games, but TWENTY-FIVE? Heck no!
7thMan
I have no problem with 25 games for this. He's done it many times before. What I don't understand, is how Keith got 5 regular season games for something far more vicious and premeditated.

drdeath
On the topic of this suspension, it's certainly on the excessive side, but if this is how seriously the NHL will take repeat offenders now then I fully support it. You'll have to forgive me if I have my doubts that this will actually happen in the future though but I'll wait and see.

Hockey Coach12
I think it is excessive but he is his own worst enemy. It's hard to feel really sorry for Torres, He has been taking guys heads out for years. Look at last year. Gets suspended for the hit on Eberle and misses 4. The next game he takes out Seabrook and somehow doesn't get suspended. This year more of the same. He is constantly taking liberties and made that a really easy decision for Shanahan. Matt Cooke was no different and his last suspension seems to have changed him. Maybe this will be what Torres needs to stop running guys.
Gran Turismo
So Keith's hit is 1/5 as bad as Torres' hit? Frack off.
Dragonfruits
they have had plenty of chances of dealing with repeat offenders so they finally to decide to throw the book at torres there is no doubt in my mind that this won't be followed someone is pulling the puppet strings pretty hard for this one
