Sundin
Enough of hearing that Toronto and Florida (and others) could low-ball the 'Nucks for Bobby Lu because of his cap hit and length of contract ... but in reality with the cap floor being $54.2 million, Bobby Lu's cap hit will be needed by Florida ... thus their ownership open to the idea of acquiring him. Florida needs another $15 million to reach the floor (Versteeg to eat up 1/3 of this). This may also open the door for us to trade Ballard for a draft pick, so that a team can pick up his $4.2 million cap hit to also get to the cap floor. 1. Trade Luongo and Raymond to FLOR for Bergenheim, Howden, Kulikov, Markstrom 2. Sign Schultz (2 yrs) 3. Sign Doan (3 yrs) 4. Sign Mueller (1 yr ... interim void left by Kesler) 5. Resign Salo (1 yr) 6. Trade Booth, Howden and Markstrom to ANA for Ryan 7. Trade Ballard to DET (if unable to get Suter, void left by Lidstrom and Stuart) or EDM for draft pick FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Shane Doan ($4.750m) Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) / Peter Mueller ($2.000m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) Sean Bergenheim ($2.750m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Aaron Volpatti ($0.600m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / DEFENSEMEN Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Alexander Edler ($3.250m) / Justin Schultz ($1.888m) Dmitry Kulikov ($2.000m) / Chris Tanev ($0.900m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Sami Salo ($2.000m) GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Eddie Lack ($0.942m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $67,325,000; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $2,875,

mau5trap
Even if they do need it, I don't think they need it for 10 years.
Pears
Take out Markstrom. Then add in a 2nd and Tanev from our end. That makes it a little more fair.
Smashian Kassian
We won't get Kulikov, let alone Markstrom.

shazzam
generally to get to the cap floor, it would be smart to obtain a contract with high cap hit and low salary Luongo has 6.7 mill salary for another 6-7 years

NewSedinTwin
I really dislike how everyone thinks that Luongo's value is so low. Remember he is second in NHL history with wins (47 tied with Bernie Parent) He is also a Vezina nominee, all-star game attendee, all-star, olympic gold medalist and more. The guy is fantastic and deserves more respect than what most people give him.

CrippledCanuck
Dude we know he's good but be realistic he's locked up until 2021-2022 which is ridiculous. You'd really think Luongo will be able to play when he's 40 and up? I highly doubt he can do with.
