Luongo Trade Consideration - Cap Floor $54.2 million

Recommended Posts

Enough of hearing that Toronto and Florida (and others) could low-ball the 'Nucks for Bobby Lu because of his cap hit and length of contract ... but in reality with the cap floor being $54.2 million, Bobby Lu's cap hit will be needed by Florida ... thus their ownership open to the idea of acquiring him. Florida needs another $15 million to reach the floor (Versteeg to eat up 1/3 of this).

This may also open the door for us to trade Ballard for a draft pick, so that a team can pick up his $4.2 million cap hit to also get to the cap floor.

1. Trade Luongo and Raymond to FLOR for Bergenheim, Howden, Kulikov, Markstrom

2. Sign Schultz (2 yrs)

3. Sign Doan (3 yrs)

4. Sign Mueller (1 yr ... interim void left by Kesler)

5. Resign Salo (1 yr)

6. Trade Booth, Howden and Markstrom to ANA for Ryan

7. Trade Ballard to DET (if unable to get Suter, void left by Lidstrom and Stuart) or EDM for draft pick

I really dislike how everyone thinks that Luongo's value is so low. Remember he is second in NHL history with wins (47 tied with Bernie Parent) He is also a Vezina nominee, all-star game attendee, all-star, olympic gold medalist and more. The guy is fantastic and deserves more respect than what most people give him.
