Laurence Gilman was just on CKNW with Pratt. Didn't catch it all.

All I got was

- In no rush to do anything (per usual)
- Doan appeared to care more about winning a cup, rather than money "That's all he cares about, he made that clear."
- Then Aquilini stressed to him that's all he cares about too
- The dinner was Shane, his wife, Gillis, Gilman and Aquilini
- 30mill at 4 years would be a deal breaker for Canucks
- Gillis is in discussion with several teams on Lu, we won't be rushed.

In the Shane doan thread:
Gillman says: that a 4 year 30 Million would indeed be a deal breaker.
Gillman said: Doan and wife on a fact finding stage of their big decision. Money is important but winning slightly more.
Gillman on CKNW right now: says Doan dinner went well and he really wants to win the cup.

Good to know dinner 'went well' i suppose.

Hopefully there's some truth to that Arnott rumour, and that Doan looks at it favourably as well.

I wonder if maybe they were talking about what kind of lineup he'd be coming into if he joined the Nucks. Could it have prompted Gillis to go in on Arnott possibly to show Doan that want to surround him with character guys and other vets?

Just thinking out loud.

If we could sign Arnott, Doan and Mattias/Bjugstad. Or 2 out of the 3. The size and grit on our team just grew exponentially. That would be a great team to support the 1st lines smaller size.

I find it funny when people say this specifically about Kesler. What about Burrows? He dives just as much, and he pulled Keith's hair, but nobody ever mentions that, do they?

I wouldn't count us as the best chance to win. We still have some moves to make. This team is still lacking an identity.

Gilman: We don't feel pressure to do anything at this point
Gilman on Lui: "Mike is in discussion with several teams.. we won't be rushed."
Pratt: Would 30mill at 4 years be a deal breaker? Gilman: Yes
Gilman: Impression I got is winning is more important to him than money
Then Aquilini stressed to him that's all he cares about too
Gilman on how important winning a Cup is to Doan: "That's all he cares about, he made that clear."
Gilman on Doan meeting: It was Shane, his wife, Gillis, Gilman and Aquilini

Burr and Hank weren't diving as much as Kesler against LA.

Those two learned to stop. I don't recall Burrows and Hank diving in the LA series. But then again, I only remember bits and pieces of the series the Canucks lose. So I certainly hope you don't pull out a Hank and Burr diving montage to put me in my place.

I want Kesler to succeed. I'm going to post this video again.

Kesler held his own against IGINLA.

What if Kesler pummeled Brown into oblivion instead of diving?

I'm harder on Kesler's dives, than any other players deficiencies, because it's just a matter of attitude. It is a quick fix. When he's not scoring, he could be hitting and fighting. He shouldn't be diving.

I think most of our team learned that last season. There was less diving. It's Captain America's turn.

The thing with Kesler is that his dives are so overdramatic and comical that it's as if he doesn't even want to draw a penalty. It's like he's just doing it to catch the refs' attention. Marchand's dives actually draw penalties. Kes stopped diving for most of the regular season (11-12), but as soon as the playoffs started he was at it again. It was as if he thought the refs would forget all of his dives from the past due to him cleaning up his act so he thought he'd be able to go back to it during the playoffs and have the refs believe him.

Shut up.

Did I strike a nerve?

What the hell is everybody talking about Kes isnt a flopper, he's just playing by the new NHL rules. If you're not cheating, you're not trying. In fact any players who refuse to flop should be traded instantly. Last two cup champs Boston and L.A. Both of them were World Class Divers and Whiners. Thats how you win now.

Love Kesler when he is on his game but he has to be the biggest theatrical player I have seen in a while.

Burrows can't come close to the finest art of diving Kesler has perfected and given to the sport.

What excuse did he make up? His shoulder that requires surgery and has him sidelined till December? Sure sounds made up to me.

Shut up.

I'm a big defender of Kes and the Canucks in general for this whole blown out of proportion "Only the Canucks dive and they do it all the time" crap, seriously though, Kes and his diving in the few games that the boy's played in the playoffs this year was pretty embarrassing and pathetic and I couldn't defend it.

Kes is a character guy and his whole dive routine is a relatively new development so I really hope he get's past it this year.

I don't understand what everyone is arguing about, I mean are we not Canucks fans?

Yes Kesler dives, but so do up to 85% of the players in the league.

We should be supporting our boys no matter what, we shouldn't be getting into arguments about who's the bigger diver on our team.

Just because we are fans of the Canucks and especially Kesler does not mean we have to love his diving and shut up.

Come on.It is embarrassing to watch a grown man act like a child.

If Kesler was hurt so bad he should not have been playing.Playing hurt hurts the team and risks further, serious injury.

Ok the Kesler diving was only really badly done in 2012 playoffs but when he was beating in 2011 i really dont care we didnt lose the series cuz of Kesler's dives. and Burrows can do whatever he wants cuz he got the OT goal against chi and bos and frankly that should give him immunity lol

That's the problem. Burrows is immune to criticism because he scored the OT goal against Chicago. But a lot of people are quick to forget it was Kesler who scored a clutch goal in the San Jose series to give us the huge lead and he put the team on his back in the Nashville series.

Just because we are fans of the Canucks and especially Kesler does not mean we have to love his diving and shut up.

So you would've been happier with Pahlsson, Lapierre, or possibly a winger who hasn't played centered in who knows how long in that position? Our team would of gotten pummeled to bits more than we already did.

Are you on crack? Ask Brown, Marchand, Kane, etc..., how that's worked for them in the past Stanley Cups / if the refs don't call penalties, you make sure they do next time and Kes does that...
