This is a pretty big slap to Kassian's face, basically saying he's worse than Weise, Volpatti and Pinizotto who's played less in the NHL than Kas.

No it isn't, Weise, Volpatti and Pinizotto aren't prospects who need developing, they are career 4th liners. Kassian needs to be in the AHL so he can actually play during the lockout.

I love this move by the organization. I had a feeling it was coming soon.

The fact that Kass has already proved he is a PPG player in the AHL is also very promising.

Hopefully he can lead the Wolves to a championship if there is no season this year.

Imagine the chemistry Kass, Connauton, and Schroeder can develop together? DROOL

I can see it already, "Schroeder off the half wall passes it to Connauton at the point, Connauton with the big slapshot, tipped in front by Kassian!!!!!!! AND THE CROWD GOES WILDDDDD"

Being sent to the AHL prior to a lockout does not equal that player not being good enough for the NHL. There are limited spots on the Wolves (and in Kalamazoo) and they have their own players under contract so we can't send down everyone. We're just sending down the players who we want to get the playing time rather than sit and do nothing until a new CBA is signed.

I'd love a fight between Kassian and Hodgson.

Or a fight a with kassian and some another 4th line plug.

All the kassian homers are making the Lou homers look good. We are talking about a player that was inconsistent in juniors and has shown no reason to think he can even crack the lineup but he is the new answer to the first line.

You must have some good crack if you think he is any more then a prospect. I hope he is a great player for the nucks but he will fail if too much pressure is on him. Let him be what he is, start at the 4th till he shows us he can be more.

So everyone from young first line stars to 4th line plugs?

This is a pretty big slap to Kassian's face, basically saying he's worse than Weise, Volpatti and Pinizotto who's played less in the NHL than Kas.

There's a lockout. There are no NHL games. They're sending him to the AHL to get some games and a paycheck.

Kassian could use the extra development anyway. Let him become a force in the AHL before we try to rush him in the NHL.
What is the deal with Mike Gillis, it always seems like he's sweating...

Any player that can be playing anwhere without having to clear waivers we certainly wantthem to be. Can only workout so much.

Kassian may benifit from the lockout more then any Canuck (Aside from the ones that could use the rest *Kesler*) playing in Chicago will give him the edge to help make the team come training camp, especially if it's a late start.

Or there may be no season at all, so best have him playing somewhere that the coaches are training him to play your system.

I was saying Lu-Urns...

Is RNH old enough for the AHL? wont he not be 20 until the following season. I would have thought he'd have to go play in the whl again.

Agree with many of the comments about Kassian getting some time to play offensive 1/2 line minutes in the minors. My fear this year was he would be rushed bc of the CoHo factor and pressured to perform early. Then when he didn't AV would relegate him to the third then fourth then the press box and f with his head.

This is the best thing ever for the kid. Quietly work on is game, get real offensive minutes to gain his confidence in that role, since he has those abilities and then come into the big club whether later in 2012 or hopefully at latest early 2013, regardless any time in the minors will help him. Moreover, its going to create some chemistry and brotherhood amongst our new guard (Connaughton, Schroeder, Kassian, Lack, Sauve, Tanev, Rodin), much like it did for Bieksa, Burr, Kes, in the last lockout.

Its also going to be pretty tough hockey with alot of the names being sent down, so it wont be the 'regular' AHL. It will be the AHL with some NHL allstars mixed in (Hall, Nuge for example), so a league of young NHL talent with some of the better AHL'ers still there..so the development he'll get, and others like those mentioned will actually be a very valuable and nice bridge for many of these guys.

Ie Connaughton, Lack, Schroeder, Sauve, will start seeing a level of talent that they haven't had to play against yet, on a regular basis, but as a whole not completely the same as the NHL but a step higher than what they are used to, which should make their transitions to the big club that much easier.

While it sucks for us the longer this goes, window issues with the Sedins etc there are some pluses for the Nucks as a whole, development of their kids who are close to ready, rest for Daniel's noggin, for Kesler's shoulder, and less of the media circus on Lou if he's not traded day 1 (longer it goes less people will care)...

What is the minimum age for an AHL player?

Per AHL By-Laws, the age limit for eligibility to compete in the American Hockey League is 18 years or over, on or before September 15 of each season of competition.

So Kas got sent to the wolves and Jensen to Europe.

I think Kas could use some more ice time, and Chicago would be the place to get it. I think all the prospects who were re-assigned will benifit from all the ice time they should be getting. Development is the key here. Nice to see the organization not rushing some of these kids..

definitely nice to have a good team in place already so we don't really need to use a lot of prospects. Oilers are kind of forced to use their young guys because they don't have much to work with. They will be a good team in the future but at the moment rushing their young players (not saying they are bad or uncapable of NHL time) isn't the best for them.

Let's hang him (or her) by the toes and beat him with a wiffle ball bat.

Disclaimer: This was, as sad as it may be, an attempt at humor and we should in not way consider beating anyone with a wiffle ball bat.... Well Lou may be an exception to this.

You clearly haven't read the responses already in this thread. This isn't like every other season when we send players down prior to the first game. Some are being sent because they would have anyway, but we're sending down some players that would at least be here for camp because they need to clear before the lockout is finalized.

They can be brought back up once the CBA is settled so they can compete for a spot on the team so it's not that we're acquiring another player that will be taking their role.

This thread is giving me a headache for that very reason.......are this many people really this oblivious to the CBA situation?
