theminister
Haha that status was an obvious joke. And yeah they help, cause u can see how good some players are playing and by playing attention to the most objective and reasonable fans (And there are alot more of them there than here) you can tell how valued some players are by other teams. Cause really regardless of what we think Gardiner, O'Reilly, exc. is worth, the price we will have to pay if we want those players will have to meet what the other teams are comfortable with. Not everything works out perfectly just because it suits us, other teams and needs and interests too.
Merci
Gillis won't trade Luongo for Johannson. Doesn't fit the makes the team better model, we're better with Luongo wit hthe depth a 15 goal scoring small play making center. What is Schroeder? I donno why Smashian thinks a GM is going to give us two prospect players for Luongo who may play another 5 season then retire.
Smashian Kassian
Wow, that is absolutely crap. The only way to know how a player is playing is to watch them play regularly and trust your own judgement. If you really base your assessment of players based off of reading the scribblings of another fan then it explains why you change your evaluation of a player's value so frequently. Two months ago you didn't think the Caps would move Holtby for Lou period and yesterday you claim that Neuvirth has more value to them than Holtby. Like, seriously, give your head a shake and please quit rushing to create ill informed snap judgements. You don't have to have a strong opinion on every player especially if you are not in a position to form such opinion.

higgyfan
Maybe it's time for you to understand the actual strategy employed: Gillis is asking fair value for an ELITE goaltender. Not spare change. Not mediocre futures. Most teams cannot afford to trade for Luongo. Gillis knows that. Luongo won't waive his NTC to go anywhere but FLA. FLA is not willing to move what Gillis demands. Schneider's agent comes in running his mouth about getting impatient. Guy gets paid nonetheless. Both Schneider and Luongo are having fun out there. They understand where they're at entirely. Luongo has taken back his rightful position. Schneider will struggle all year long to maintain his status as an equal. Gillis doesn't want to trade Luongo nor Schneider. It is dry early in the season and there is no actual pressure on most teams as all can still make it. The pressure will mount as the season unravels and offers will come. Offers for Luongo won't be fielded for a while and they will not be as great as offers fielded for Schneider. Schneider can be easily moved due to contract length and numbers. Luongo stays by de facto of Schneider's agent "losing patience" when really, it is another way of saying "I should have thought of it differently". So calm down King and support our great goaltender before you and SmashianKassian run him out of town and then complain that the Canucks suck because they don't have a goaltender of the caliber Luongo is and start crucifying Schneider because of his eventual subpar play that doesn't allow the Canucks to win every night. Smashian Kassian
I'm not interested in Gardiner - don't need him - not as impressed by his sheltered performance as Leafs fans on HF boards are muahaha - and sure as hell don't need to meet the Leafs comfort level, which has been a chorus of panhandling for an allstar veteran goaltender handout. Noheart
when Kesler and booth get back I honestly don't even see what we need. Cap space, picks, prospects is what we need more than anything. to TO Luongo 2022 5th to VAN 2013,14,15,16,17,18,19 1st and 2nd 2020,21,22 3rd and 4th

Blömqvist
Isn't that what we had last year? Daniel ~ Henrik ~ Burrows Higgins ~ Kesler ~ Booth Raymond ~ Pahlsson ~ Hansen And the year before that: Daniel ~ Henrik ~ Burrows Raymond ~ Kesler ~ Samuelsson Higgins ~ Lapierre ~ Hansen but better offense from our defense The fact of the matter is, come playoffs it will be harder to score. The Twins will get shut down and the Kesler line will find it difficult to contribute to the offense. Our third line looks promising, but knowing AV and MG it will probably be a defense-first line like the previous two playoffs. Getting an impact offensive player from the upcoming goalie trade should be our priority.
oldnews
We don't need Gardiner, and I'm not particularly interested either, I'm just saying he is underrated here, and better than most think, he doesn't played sheltered minutes and the Leafs are hurting right now without him. Smashian Kassian
Wow - you are as stubborn and repetitive in the face of evidence as anyone on these boards. Gardiner - 56% offensive zone starts, second only to Rosehill. Only Leafs who faced a weaker quality of competition - Orr, Rosehill, Dupuis, Ashton... Call it whatever you want - those are sheltered minutes.

RUPERTKBD
That is as close as it gets to being a perfect trade Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Kesler - Schroeder Frattin - O'Reilly - Kassian Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen Raymond, Malhotra, Volpatti, Weise Lovin' it. Smashian Kassian
The whole premise of this thread and the proposed trades therein, is the idea that prospective trading partners are in need of a goaltender upgrade. Now, all of a sudden, T.O. is not interested unless they are receiving a first-line center?
ccc44
Henrik - Daniel - Kassian/Burrows Booth - Kesler - Burrows/Kassian I'm pretty confident in that, we still have Raymond, Higgins, Schroeder, Hansen in the bottom 9. Our secondary scoring is much better than it has been in prior years with Schroeder and Kassian emerging, and Raymond playing better.

Smashian Kassian
The secondary scoring is almost the same as previous years , Raymond like most years will be inconsistant and disappear and Shroeder is far from being proven enough to be relied on for the playoffs as for Kassian , He has the tools and size to be a natural playoff performer . We could use a quality 3rd line center making Malhotra a depth center for when injurys occur in the playoffs . If Gillis can pull a miracle and get a quality 3rd liner who can move up to the 2nd line in case of injurys for Luongo then he has succeeded , But my guess is if there is a Luongo deal made it will be for a spare part or couple 2nd or 3rd round draft picks cause why would anybody pay a quality price for a guy they can sign after he is bought out in the off season for a much more reasonable deal
