Smashian Kassian
Typical overvaluation of Canuck players by Canuck fans.
Smashian Kassian
What are you talking about? I can't bother to read much beyond "Leafs garbage" which is straight out of nowhere, and nothing to do with what I was talking about. But yeah, your suggestion would be like telling Canucks fans who had already pencilled in Hodgson as the next captain that he wasn't ready to take Kesler's minutes and has a lot of developing to do... oldnews
My suggestion (talking to reasonable Leafs fans, or people who cover the team with as much objectivity as possible) would give you a far better gauge of how important he is to that team. And lets lay it out on the table, I have seen you say "I don't want Leafs garbage" before, and if Gardiner was on Florida, everyone would clammer over him and would be desperate to get him, clear Anti-Leaf bias, not sure how it is debatable. smurf47
I know but the media puts twists on it. If Cory bombs and Lu has a stellar season then what happens?
Smashian Kassian
So you are suggesting that relative corsi statistics aren't objective enough for you, but that I should go to the Leafs boards and get an objective opinion about Gardiner? Ok. Right. Bolded part - FOS - have never used those words - feel free to provide a quote as opposed to pulling a King and putting words in someone else's mouth. There are a number of Leafs I like, and Gardiner is one of them - it's simply that his value is blown extremely out of proportion.

Raffi Torres's Smirk
So Cal Clutterbuck, the man who regularly leads the NHL in hits and has ten less total points than Torres in almost 300 less games, and is a known leader on and off the ice is worse than Torres how? oldnews
Don't have the exact quote, but someone said the only pieces they want are Kessel, Phaneuf and Gardiner, and you said you didn't want any of the Leafs garbage. Your going to have to explain Corsi, cause to me that stat is just a way for people to grasp at straws, for some people it seems to accurately tell the story, for others it doesn't. Go to HF, find a pretty reasonable and objective fan, ask him Gardiner's importance to the team and get him to respond to that post you showed me. You will probably get laughed at. Samuel Påhlsson
If our offense continues to have consistency issues, then I can't see a scenario where we keep both goalies by the trade deadline.

Smashian Kassian
Still FOS. You're grasping at false straws - provide a quote - don't put your straw words in my mouth - it's ignorant. And ironically, the last people I'd want are Kessel or Phaneuf. Corsi - which you apparently don't understand - according to you, nevertheless, is "grasping at straws" - yet you are suggesting I go fan surfing on HF boards for an 'objective' person to tell me that Gardiner is a fully developed two-way top 4 blueliner? You're wasting my time Smashian. I believe someone brought up the point a few days ago that you act like CDC's own Bob McKenzie - as if you're an insider regarding every proposed deal, who knows exactly who will move which player and for whom... And yet you are oblivious to things like offensive zone starts, relative corsi, and quality of competition. Your comment that the Leafs face the same competition as us just goes to show that you have no idea what kind of matchups the Leafs consciously decide to use Gardiner against - which would also suggest that you don't really have much idea how ready he actually is to play a true - unsheltered - top 4 role. oldnews
Your the one who started this whole thing, and yes he is "Sheltered" playing with defensive specialists like Dion Phaneuf and John Micheal-Liles. People can call me whatever they want, I would rather be able to provide more objective & most realistic feedback rather than thinking Canucks needs are the only one's who matters, and not taking other teams needs into considerations like alot of poeple here. My advice, is for you to find someone who follows the leafs closer than you and I, and see how they respond, judging by what I have seen on HF boards, they would laugh and say your totally off-base. Just do that and see what response you get, as alot of people on HF are actually pretty reasonable and fair. Far more than on this site that's for sure.
