Missed the game, what happened to KB3? (How did the injury occur)

I want to bring up Vandermeer, safe defensively, tough, and a good veteran presence. If I remember right reentry waivers are gone in the new CBA, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

2nd choice is Alberts, he's reliable enough, tough and is already used to the system.

I would think Alberts goes in, although I feel bad for Barker (I made a thread showing my sympathy for Sulzer last year) as he just wasn't able to get his career back on track. Hopefully MG gives both guys tryout games.

I like Vandermeer's toughness...
Vandermeer / Barker is a very good 3rd pair, I think even better than Ballard / Tanev.

No way...Tanev is the best D-man in that comparison and Barker is the worst defenseman in the NHL when it comes to playing defense.

Ballard has (surprisingly) looked solid playing on the right side and I would say he has been our most consistent dman this season so far. Time to give him a bit of a shot..... I say put him with Hamhuis 5 on 5 and with Garrison on the 2nd PP. Ballard in the top 4 brings the most similar game to Bieksa and I think he could thrive there.

Garrison and Edler both look terrible on the right side imo.

alberts deserves it , he's been the oddman out for 3 years now , rome really took his spot last year as the 7th dman

hes a big body , knows the system

hes the obvious choice and barker will come into play next injury , could be sooner then you think

and forget about his draft position , there not going to be playing him in a roll that he could even put up points

alberts just makes sense , barker is there to fill a hole if alberts is already in or injured

Would love to see Barker get his chance, I'm sure he still will because I can't see Alberts doing very well.
Still don't really understand why we're keeping that guy lol.

I think they'll rotate between the two.

Did you remember playing the Hawks in the playoffs 2 years ago? Barker was such an bad ass and very hard to play against....I doubt Ballard or Tanev could have that impact....

Some people around here have been wanting to see Barker or Vandy play for awhile. Now we have a scoring Dman down and you will all get what you wished for. Two guys that couldn't make any other team. Great.

It's not the first time. He didn't understand Barker was traded just over 3 years ago to Minny (so it would have been the playoffs 4 years ago he's thinking of), who then let him go to UFA he was so bad only to be picked up by the Oilers and still dropped by them after last year despite their lack of defence.

Barker might get a chance as he at least can play on the right side, but Alberts I think will get the call shuffling Edler back to the right for now.

Garrison Ballard

Garrison - Ballard
Edler - Alberts
Hamhuis - Tanev

Let's see Garrison-Ballard as the number one D pairing for a game! Edler-Alberts are both big bodies and can lay the hits on and Hamhuis-Tanev have a little bit of experience playing together already.. Would be nice to see Barker come in, but he only comes in if Alberts plays bad. Alberts has been with us long enough that he deserves to come in next!

Going to be Alberts. He has shown that he is a good 6/7 d man. Unless Barker has shown AV something in practice I don't see him pushing past Alberts in the pecking order.

Or then of course there's always the Ferry

Also,
I'm putting together a list of the criteria to be a "real" Canuck's fan. So far I have this:

1. I cheer for the Canucks, whatever happens.
2. I never say anything bad about the Canucks.
3. I know the difference between "real" fans and posers just by how they post on the CDC or where they sit at GM Place.
4. I wouldn't dream of leaving a game before it ended, even if it meant missing a train, ferry or a threesome with the wife and her hot best friend?
5. I make 10+ posts a day and I have over 10,000 posts on the CDC, so my Canuck "street-cred" is huge. Go away noob!
6. No one F's with me. I train in MMA. I'm really tough. I'll curb stomp yo' donkey.
7. I make a tonne of $$$$.
8. I'm witty.
9. If it meant missing a game, I wouldn't study for a midterm.
10. I roll with a guy who has a wicked car.
11. I like to post "source?" a lot.

I'd say give Barker a shot. This guy used to be a beast and I know that he hasn't been (at all) for some time, but we signed him... we might as well see if he can do anything at all in the big league again.

Barker? Vandermeer? Or Alberts?

I think Barker because they have similar style....

Its Alberts, AV said as much in the post game interviews. As it should be.

I actually thought Alberts is the 3rd guy among Barker, Vandermeer, and himself. Maybe is the loyalty thing? Alberts has been with the team for several seaons now and AV does not want to hurt his feeling? If going by ability, he can do nothing better than Barker or Vandermeer.

I'd wanna see barker even if only for a couple games. I mean, we signed the guy, we already know what alberts brings to the table. May as well give him a chance and see if he's maybe improved his game or worked on his conditioning.

Hope Barker gets a chance. Alberts too, just because they've both been sitting out for so long. Then I really hope we move Alberts. I don't like him that much, but more than that, he really doesn't deserve to be a 7th/8th d-man and never get to play. He's still a capable defenceman, just not for us me thinks.

So why did we sign Barker then? I would think it would be so he could get his career back on track. Can't do that from the press box. Give him a game AV!

assurance. If our d-men are healthy then why play mess with our core? They have been playing great.

If Bieksa can't play, I'd much rather see Vandermeer or Barker. Alberts makes atrocious decisions and takes stupid penalties. Hate to negative but he's the only Canuck i don't trust on our roster.
