You all know the few players I'm talking about.

does it drain energy from the team when someone is diving? or just when they get caught at doing it?

I'd say yes, and yes even more so.

Can't stand it. So LAME!!! It doesn't work anyways, they get a reputation for diving, and then the Refs treat the whole team differently.

Here is something: Post how you think we can stop it.

Signs in the stands at home: Stop Diving!

Throw speedos on the ice when a diving penalty is called? (hilarious!)

I really hope the DET game wasn't indicative of the refs not favouring calls for the 'Nucks because of their reputation for 'theatrics'.

Lappierre has played an honest game this year. I'd like to see others follow suit.

ffs, kesler, if you're going to dive, don't dive when we're on the power play. Refs don't always like to make diving calls, but when we're already on a power play? That's just begging them to make the diving call.

The only person who has shown to dive and embellish to an unacceptable degree was... Kesler.

I don't know what this guy's deal is but ever since the 10-11 season this guy thinks he's Ovechkin and Lidstrom put together but plays like the complete opposite.

Definitely not liking his presence back in the lineup as of now.

Of course CDC refutes your claim by posting videos of other players doing it. Because that makes it okay.

With the way the refs have been calling games Van is going to start to get diving penalties for when the other team dives............... but with that said looking at our own team..... I must say that I wish Kesler would stop diving as well and so far this season I think I have only seen it happen once (I could have missed it though) I really hope that he quits it all together, he is a amazing player and doesn't need to dive..

Oh, so we're talking about Marc Savard, Jordan Tootoo, Scott Hartnell, or Brooks Laich.

But I'm glad this thread is here as a clear solution for all the NHL players reading it.

Every team has a player or 2 that dives so why not show some of the other players notorious for such acts

Marchand is clearly a bigger diver than Kesler but Kesler gets the finger pointing because he play for the Canucks

Actually, the refs are onto Kesler now, so even on legitimate calls they still nail him for diving. It's hard to complain though because it's his own doing. The Kesler who hits and scores is so much more valuable than the Kesler who whines and dives.

The problem with Kesler's diving is that... he's a terrible at it.

It's very obvious and so over-the-top.

If only he can act better, then maybe, just maybe, we can actually get power-plays out of it instead of penalties.

Or he can just stop diving all together.

It's only really Kesler. He has not been a good addition to this club. Everyone else is diving and we get the penalty. Robidas diving against Burrows was just pathetic.

I hate diving and embellishments. What sucks is that the Canuck's best players are all known divers so we're going to have to live with this pansy, unsportsmanlike BS for a long time. Embarrassing.

Every team has a player who's gone to diving school. its part of the game trying to draw penalties. The way refs calls games against us, you almost always have to over exaggerate or the canucks will never get a power play.

I have to say I'm awfully surprised with all this Kesler hate-on b*llsh*t since he's come back from his injuries. I think he's been playing acceptionally well so far.

We're 10-4-4 so far, some of you need to take a chill pill. It's amazing what one Canucks game loss can do to this board.

Diving is cheating and I can't stand cheaters... any people who try to lie and fake their way through life, or a hockey game, for that matter. These "professional" players are watched by kids. I go to our local rinks to watch kids I teach and, man, is it getting bad... kids flopping on the ice all over the place. The worst part of it all are the coaches and parents who then berate the inexperienced officials when they don't make the "correct" call. Pathetic.

I am a High School soccer coach and when my kids dive, trash talk and act unsportingly, I yank them and sit their sorry asses on the bench. I wan't them to play as absolutely physically as possible, within the laws of the game, but, when they play outside the laws, they don't play any more that match.

Exactly.

Kesler has already proven once that when he eliminates the unnecessary diving and chirping from his game, he's an amazing player. I can understand that he may be frustrated with the refs for not making obvious penalty calls - but he has to realize that everyone in the league suffers from terrible reffing and not just him. Embellishing or diving may have earned him a few calls in his favour, but now the referee's don't even give him the benefit of the doubt anymore. Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me eh? Refs don't forget when you embarass them.

When Kesler resorts to diving, it's really a shame because he's such a good player without having to stoop to that level.

What does the team's record have to do with diving?

it has to do with the fact that this board has a meltdown when the nucks have 1 bad loss .. I hate the diving too , but we wouldnt be so amped up about it [ and everything else } if we hadnt got blown out .... go look at the board and all the chicken littles freaking out prematurly .. and freaking over everything .. it makes us look small .. were a better fan base than that .. and smarter too ..

yes. i think this could really help. obviously sometimes it's hard to tell, but other times it's really really obvious. the nba is doing it no? there would be some kind of increasing fine scale for repeat offenders, and could lead to a suspension in extreme cases (3 strikes? 5 times?).
