LeanBeef
Either Pinizzotto or Vandermeer are coming up I'm guessing... Or maybe they're trying to acquire a better 4th line guy?

rawkdrummer
I hope he clears waivers... I don't get it either but there's an open spot now? let the rumors begin!
LeanBeef
Oh, BTW guys, fighting =/= tough and grit. People don't usually fight in the playoffs, unless Torres just concussed one of your star players. It's about hits and whatnot, not fighting. Still though, this move doesn't make any sense.. Weise is the better option since he plays the PK (and is pretty good at it) and understands the game, Volpatti is just there to hit and stuff. But still, he's the guy you need as your 13th forward... If we re-call Ebbet i'm going home and crying in my room.

Drummin' Canuck
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Aaron Volpatti on waivers for 2 reasons. 1. Get him icetime. 2. Open roster spot for Steve Pinizzotto, coming off injured non-roster status. Pinizzotto has 327 PIMs in last 154 games over past 3 seasons in the AHL, Sounds like he plays a pretty hard game. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Once Pinizzotto is officially on VAN roster (after Volpatti clears or is claimed) SP can be sent to Chicago (AHL) for conditioning stint. Dan Murphy @sportsnetmurph #canucks need roster spot, Weise kills penalties+Volpatti doesn't. VAN didn't want to expose a d-man on waivers. Reasons for decision. Xur
Maybe they are getting ready for an earlier then expected Jensen. I know he was expected to play this year, just didn't think it was for another couple weeks.
-Vintage Canuck-
Honestly, Volpatti is just going to do only so much for you. No goals. The odd hit. The odd fight. Not much 'hockey' at all, really. But now what? Vandermeer? He'll offer a bit more pushback for the time being.
elvis15
This is kind of strange. Like elvis said, pushback really isn't the issue and vandermeer wouldnt provide any more than volpatti except for a few more minutes played. He shoots left and so does anyone that is good enough for a call up so i cant see us doing it to get another right handed shot in there. Volpatti has played his role perfectly so i cant see any reason mike would want to get rid of him. the only conclusion i can come to is were about to make a trade where we are getting more canuck roster players back then we are giving. Perhaps a goalie is finally on his way out?

The-Impersonator
Don't really understand this move. I bet he gets claimed.
TOMapleLaughs
Have him play forward? But is more pushback what we really need? Is that the reason we're losing? Not really as far as I'm concerned. Volpatti's not going to put up a lot of points, sure, but he's not going to shy away from a fight and has 42 hits in 16 games ( a few more than the odd hit). He also has 4 majors on the year, 2nd behind Weise with 6. I'm not sure who we have to come up that's an obvious improvement over any one of our other forwards to risk sending him down on waivers. timberz21
I would rather see weise on waivers. Might have more hockey sense than Volpatti but Volpatti is more physical and a better fighter. Weise = new Rome

thad
Question.. are we legally allowed to call back jensen? doubt its the reason patti was waived but is it legal or does he have to honor his contract over there
TOMapleLaughs
Oh snap, Volpatti didn't even dress last game. lol. Bobby Mac is right then. Get him icetime and make room for Pini, who's a bit better.
CB007
I don't know about Bobby Mac's tweet about ice time. Like what the bank commercial says, if you want to give the guy more ice time, give the guy more ice time....
CookieCrumbs
Waive our only genuine grit? I don't get this Dale Weise love by the coaching staff. It would make sense if Pinizzotto drew into the lineup. This guy is going to want it so bad. He can score, hit and fight (fingers crossed he can stay healthy). He also recently had 41 and 42 point AHL seasons (13 and 17 goals per). But the closest he's come to NHL action is a few preseason games. Assuming Volpatti clears it would be great for him to get a bunch of ice time for the PO's. A trade would be exciting as well. Would love a quality 4th liner coming our way.
