wallstreetamigo
Horrible comparison, tas. you're comparing the flames and the canucks. canucks are in a situation where they need their players healthy and only need to add a piece here and there to win the cup. the flames need years of rebuilding to contend

Tom Sestito
So what do you think we should do heading forward if you believe we don't have what it takes, and we're not close?
tas
stand pat unless a team blows them away with an offer that makes them younger and helps them a couple years from now. axe gillis in the offseason, new gm chooses his coaching staff. complete culture change. let a gm who actually has a decent working relationship with other teams' managements make the necessary trades. MayRayDown
I disagree with this statement. The Canucks are further than that from being a cup contender. They need to add a SIGNIFICANT piece or two at the deadline to be listed among those with a reasonable chance at a cup. That is in addition to getting healthy players back or replacing them on the roster with comparable players. Either that or the existing group needs a massive kick in the collective nuts (likely only possible through a coaching change) to start getting them to play with the urgency and determination to win it all. missioncanucksfan
It will cost us more than a 1st. NYR fans on HF want Kassian or Jensen/1st/+ And I don't imagine NYR would ask anything less.
Bill F-ing Murray
the canucks really shouldn't be giving up future assets to load up this year at all. it should be plainly obvious to everyone that this isn't the year, for a number of reasons. it would be like calgary moving their first rounder and guys like baertschi to give iginla a "shot at the cup". tas
Ya, good choice and his name comes up alot but im sure he is the heir apparent to Ken Holland.
Tangelos
Martin Havlat is another similar player to Gaborik who would be cheaper to go after. He's having a rough year, but he's a much more proven player than Booth was when we traded for him.
boxiebrown
on paper maybe there are only a few holes to fill, but since last year it's looked like almost every roster spot has been occupied by a "hole". this team doesn't have the heart, guts or balls to win, healthy or not. missioncanucksfan
kenny holland is still young. i'd be willing to guarantee that if nill received an offer he wanted to take that holland wouldn't stop him, and if nill was going to accept a job anywhere outside of detroit, vancouver makes as much sense as anywhere.
