DUKEskywalker
I was just wondering if Mike Gillis were to be gone .. who would CDC like to see come in to replace him as the GM of the team ? Im not throwing in the white towel after today's game but just a possibility if this were to happen ! Who would everyone like to see come in and take control of this team ? Trebreh
An assistant GM preferably from a winning organization that has drafted and developed players.

King Heffy
Patrick Burke. On DPS, so hopefully would have some influence to prevent us from getting screwed as badly by the league. Also has scouting experience with the Flyers, and I'm sure he picked up a few things from his dad.

MoneypuckOverlord
I prefer him not to be gone. There's no one really available, that I think be a good replacement. Mike Gillis has done a fine job here. The worst move he made in that really effected the team negatively was him letting Ehrhoff walk away. Rey
Even if the Canucks had a different GM, they would be in the same position. Can't really do anything, with those many NTC. Nothing significant can be done.

"Bull" Horvat
He can stay as president, he's a good business man and can run a hockey organization's business side of things but with personnel ... not so much liked. Even within his own organization. Former players too. Anyways - my point is. We could really use a GM that can scout and make good hockey trades with a good rep with at least half the league. We can have Gilman do the other stuff but ... yeah. This reputation of his doesn't affect just himself but to the Canucks & future as well. Move on, Michael D. Gillis. Keep your president job and find a GM if Laurence doesn't want to become a NHL GM yet.
hsedin33
Man, if MG just made a few god damn trades already and filled a couple holes he wouldn't be half bad, but he has married this core to this franchise and himself. Its clear that a few of these players have been here too long and want a change of scenery. MG was brought in because AQ thought Nonis was too attached to Nazzy etc, now he is the one who is too attached to his players, the irony. Someone needs to be brought in who is willing to trade a couple of these players and inject some fresh energy into the team. The Sedins are still good but as always they are the focus of the shut down pairing and have no backup. Kesler, as good as he is, he might need to be traded for someone younger with more skill as his trade value will start to decrease in a couple years. Try to trade (if they agree to waive) Edler, Kesler, maybe Burrows if he can't produce like he used too (14.5 mill!!), rebuild your entire second line, get a legit winger for the Sedins if possible. Thats what I would do.

Do you have any faith that a trade Gillis makes won't simply make the team even worse?

timberz21
^ agreed on that point, would love to see someone come in from the penguins, wings, or blackhawks organization ! Not many left from Chicago. Cheveldayoff in Winnipeg, Bergevin in MTL, they're the one that we're there in the development years of the young blackhawks. There is a young up and coming GM in Tampa. Assistant to Yzerman in Tampa is Julien Brisebois, previously GM of the Habs farm team. He 37 years old, apparently really good with numbers (cap stuff), was there in Hamilton when guys like Price, Halak, PAcioretty and Subban went through the farm. Nicklas Bo Hunter
I honestly don't know. The job would probably be offered to gretzky since he is really good friends with the owner but if he denies then gillman as gm and linden as assistant preparing to become gm?
