Seems so suspicious like how can a modern airplane suddenly lose signal? It was a Boeing 777 so it obviously incorporates back-up generators. Even if plane signals were failing a distress signal should have been very easy to send out. All emergency signals are very easy to send out.

It's extremely strange for a modern aircraft to suddenly lose contact. No radio, no transponder, nothing, over land nonetheless. They can't even find an ELT signal yet. Not to mention most of the crew and passengers would have phones on them. The fact that there was no distress signal could point to an intentional attack of some type.

Yeah, an explosion of some sort is the only thing that seems to make sense to me.

Commercial jets, especially a 777, are incredibly safe but all it takes is one tiny malfunction or pilot mistake to bring them down.

Unfortunately this sounds somewhat similar to Air France 447 but Hopefully they find the plane soon and everyone is okay.

Fox News viewers are blaming Obama. 4 Americans were involved here - it's deemed Benghazi 2.0. So Obama is the reason why the plane lost it's signal and crashed.

Two slicks spotted by S&R aircraft.... Also potential suspicion of terrorism now. Seems like TWO people with stolen passports were on the plane's manifest. Now, I don't know how often people fly with stolen passports, but coincidence? Perhaps not. Things are getting interesting.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (NEWS1130) – Search and rescue planes have spotted two large oil slicks that investigators suspect are from that Malaysian jetliner that went missing early yesterday.

The slicks were spotted off the southern tip of Vietnam and this is the first sign the plane has crashed.

Malaysian Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein says they are doing everything they can to find it. "We have activated our military, our air force, and our navy. I have had discussions with them this morning. Our national security council, with our coast guard, is also on it."

The jetliner disappeared from radar screens less than an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur, with no distress call.

Two Canadians are among the 239 people on board the flight to Beijing.

The State Department confirms that three Americans were on board the flight. Spokeswoman Jen Psaki says in a statement that officials from the U.S. Embassies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Beijing are in contact with families of the passengers. The department says it's working to determine if other U.S. citizens may have been on the flight.

Foreign ministry officials in Rome and Vienna confirm that names of two nationals listed on the manifest of the missing jet match passports reported stolen in Thailand.

Italy's Foreign Ministry says an Italian man whose name was listed as being aboard is travelling in Thailand and was not aboard the plane.

A foreign ministry functionary, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed Italian reports that Luigi Maraldi had reported his passport stolen last August.

Italian news agency ANSA says Maraldi called home after hearing reports that an Italian with his name was aboard the plane.

Austrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Weiss confirmed that a name listed on the manifest matches an Austrian passport reported stolen two years ago in Thailand. Weiss would not confirm the identity.

Separately, it has been reported that two passengers who were listed on the plane's manifest - an Italian and an Austrian - were not actually on the flight but had had their passports stolen in the past two years in Thailand.

It's strange how an oil slick was found yet zero wreckage...

Not so. Oil floats and has a distinct contrast with ocean/sea water.

The only parts of a plane that would float in an unsuccessful ditch on water would be things like the odd seat cushion, clothing article, plastic trays, etc. that are extremely difficult to spot in open waters. All else will sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Just see Air France Flight 447... oil was spotted on the ocean the day after the plane was reported missing, yet the plane's location remained unknown for around 2 years despite massive search operations.
