All those who called for the Canucks to "Tank for McDavid" this year have just been showed how mistaken that strategy is. Even Buffalo would have lost out this year, except that there are two big names in the draft this year, with both McDavid and Eichel... most years there would not be the second big choice. But Toronto, Arizona, both of which shamelessly unloaded as much of their talent as possible, all the while throwing as many games as they could get away with, are now 'Sh*t out of Luck'. Better to do what the Canucks are doing... take what drafts come to you as a result of your finish, make smart trades like the 2nd pick for Baertschi, and build a team which can compete. I think you're thinking of Buffalo. Arizona is rebuilding, what do you expect them to do at the deadline, buy? The only team purposely tanking was Buffalo and they ended up with Eichel.
