Wow, the Rags have 4 players. About 13-14 million in cap space right? And only 15 NHLers under contract.

Could Chris Kreider be a "big, scoring" winger that Benning is seeking? 6'3, 226 pounds, 21 goals the last two years.

Good thinking.

Probably be be quite a few bidders.

Lost Yandle and Boyle as well, so perhaps AV has an eye for a new Aaron Rome, Luca Sbisa

Yeah, the cost would likely be in Tanev or Edler range...big step back for a retooled D.

But clearly salary is a major concern for them.

Unless we are eating a salary like Girardi in a package deal, I am not sure how that would work.

True.

#NYR GM Jeff Gorton is trying 2 move Girardi and/or M.Staal as #NHL Draft nears, per source. Each would have to waive no-move clauses tho

To NYR: Tanev + Burrows at 50% + pick(s)/prospect(s)

To Van: Kreider + Staal

1. AV probably still loves Burr

2. Rags clear cap + gets cheap depth with Burr

3. Rags get their dman

4. Vancouver gets a replacement D, albeit an overpaid and left-handed one

5. AV developed Tanev and probably has a good relation with him

6. Canucks get their big scoring forward

7. Kreider fits all the things Benning is rumoured to be searching for: big, winger, ability to score goals. Only 25.

8. Rags avoid arbitration. Tanev already on a good contract.

9. Tanev isn't as redundant on the Rags blueline with Staal gone

10. Kreider and Dorsett are former teammates might be buds maybe not. Etem too.

11. Burr would probably wave to play close to QC and under AV, if anywhere.

12. Staal might be willing to wave if he's playing with some familiar faces: Etem, Dorsett, Kreider.

Try the Armchair GM/Proposal section.  You'll see more action there and it won't derail this thread.

Would be nice if we offered something to get Chris Kreider.

Can't offer a player going to arbitration an offer sheet.  Only if NYR walk away from him after it's over

We could use someone running over Quick 4-5 times per year.

Kreider, Staal and Klein for Tanev, Burrows at 50% and Sbisa at 50% (plus futures)?

NYR: 2 players out @ 8.6 for 3 players in at 7.4?

That is a ridiculously steep price to pay for only 1.2M in cap.

Russo (who covers the Wild) thinks it's because he wants a one-way or at least a more lucrative amount in the AHL if they settle for a two-way.  He was on a two-way 600K/125K according to CapFriendly.

His reference is probably Zac Dalpe - he just got re-signed by the Wild on a two-way at 600K/275K.

Oh Man, can you imagine being the aritrator?

"You want to be compared to who, Zac Dalpe?

Let me do some research... Do you have an emotional attachment to Sarah MaLachlan?"

Rarely does salary get dropped after arbitration... really nothing to lose for JS, well other than pissing off the team that's given him a chance to salvage a career that is.

Yeah I guess there's that. Lmfao
